Comings and Goings in the Department Please welcome Cheryl Jacobs to the department. Cheryl is a new Administrative Assistant working in the Simulation Lab. She will start with the department effective March 9, 2009. Please welcome Jorn Karhausen, MD to the department. Jorn is a new Clinical Assiciate working in the Cardiothoracic Division. He started with the department on February 16, 2009. Please welcome Sharon Herndon to the department. Sharon is a new Financial Management Analyst III working in the Business Office. She will start with the department effective March 9, 2009. We wish a fond farewell and good luke to Christine Siefert and Claire Thomson. Both were Students with the department. Their last day was January 16, 2009.

“What’s Next After Eureka!” Karthik Gopalakrishnan, PhD

The next few Research Conferences will focus on intellectual property (IP). Dr. Gopalakrishnan will present an over view of the structure of the Duke Office of Licensing and Ventures (OLV), introduce the team, discuss how they evaluate IP, outline Duke University patent policy and the patent process. He also will outline how OLV markets, negotiates and licenses intellectual property created by Duke investigators and clinicians. Upcoming Meetings:
