“HANDS ON” INDUSTRIAL CULTURE At Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, discover the ironworks, a true industrial culture landmark. Industrial history, leisure and culture all abound on the 200-hectare site. There are numerous attractions to be found here such as a high-wire course, the diving gasometer and a climbing garden in the midst of former ore bunkers. In the evening, lighting designed by the British artist Jonathan Park transforms the ironworks into a fascinating spectacle. Explore this unique landscape on a tour with our guide or a former worker at the steel mill, who can tell you from his own experience how workers used to “slave away” here.

TIGER & TURTLE – MAGIC MOUNTAIN

THE ONLY WALK-ON ROLLER COASTER IN THE WORLD Discover the only roller coaster in the world where you can take a walking tour and find out what “Tiger and Turtle” is all about. The sculpture towers 20 metres high and can be seen from afar on top of Heinrich Hildebrand Höhe in the south of the city. Its shimmering silver curves beckon visitors from a distance. ART AND CULTURE ON RAILS This tour starts at Duisburg City Hall. After being presented information on Gerhard Mercator and city history, the group proceeds to the artistically designed subway station “Duisburg-Rathaus” at the town hall. Next stop: Ruhrort. Marxloh The brightly coloured district of Marxloh invites visitors to get to know it personally. One of the biggest mosques in Germany, the ‘most romantic street in Europe’ with over 53 bridal fashion shops, the Medienbunker, the Rosenpalast and the old mill known as Kiebitzmühle are a testament to how rapidly the district has changed. Ruhrort The beginnings of Ruhrort date back to the 14th century when there was a customs house on an island in the Rhine. OSKARS HAFENWELT AN ATMOSPHERIC BOAT TRIP

An individual boat tour around the remote corners of the world’s biggest inland port can be enjoyed in the cult motor yacht OSKAR. The tour starts at the Schifferbörse pier. With a view of the Rhine, it takes in the Hafenkanal (port canal), the Möweninsel (seagull island) and Schiffsfriedhof (ship graveyard). Later on, the little boat chugs its way to the Ruhrort port basin. Duisburg’s first container terminal and the old listed shipyard are also part of the tour. The old motor yacht OSKAR allows us to explore every aspect of the port.

TRACKING SCHIMMI'S TRAIL On June 28, 1981, Horst Schimanski, Duisburg's Commissar, celebrated his baptism of fire in the celebrated TV crime series “Tatort”. His famous tatty parka is still cult. Explore the original shooting sites for Horst Schimanski & Co. VINYL TOUR

A MECCA FOR RECORD FANS The seemingly long-forgotten vinyl record is currently experiencing a grand revival. The black disc has virtually acquired cult status for many music lovers. Fans will be in their element in Duisburg city centre, where there is one record shop after another. Our tour goes from Schäferturm to Sonnenwall. The stations along the way are called ‘Far Out’, ‘Die Schallplatte’, ‘Onkel Stereo’ and ‘Andrä’. It goes without saying that those on the tour also want to have a little listen to the treasures they’ve just bought, which is why we also pay a visit to ‘city electronicer’ with its range of old and modern record players. SPORTPARK GUIDED TOUR FROM THE EXCAVATED LAKE TO THE SPORTPARK DUISBURG

In 1919, the company Krupp gave its gravel excavation site in Wedau to the city of Duisburg with the instruction to create a sports and recreational area for the local population. This led to the creation of Germany’s biggest and most diverse sports and recreation park on an area now covering some 200 hectares. The Regattabahn is world-famous. MSV Duisburg play their opponents in the schauinsland-reisen-Arena. There is an indoor ice rink, athletics facilities, a swimming complex and a high ropes course. Several clubs and associations are based here. The guided tour can be taken on foot or by bike. CITY HISTORY FOR CHILDREN

TRAVELLING THROUGH THE PAST WITH “GERRY” MERCATOR Hello children! Gerhard Mercator, the famous cartographer and astronomer, invites you on a tour of “his” Duisburg. He will show you what the city was like 500 years ago when he lived here. The route leads through the centre of the Old Town surrounding Town Hall, the Old Market and Salvatorkirche. Then “Gerry” takes you to Dreigiebelhaus. You will walk along the old city wall and have a look at Johannes-Corputius-Platz, where Kultur- und Stadthistorisches Museum is located. The “History Tour for Children” is especially fun with friends or with the entire school class.

HÜTTENWERKE KRUPP MANNESMANN SPECIALISED AND OPTIMISED

The Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann GmbH (HKM) plant is located in Duisburg, the “steel heart” of the Ruhr Area. Ever since HKM was founded by Krupp Stahl AG and Mannesmannröhren-Werke AG in 1990, the company has increasingly specialized in steel slab for flat products and round steel for pipes. Products are manufactured exclusively on behalf of the present-day shareholders – thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG, Salzgitter Mannesmann GmbH and Vallourec Tubes S.A.S.. We open our production sites exclusively to you.

BREWERY TOUR “KÖNIG PILSENER” With its top products König Pilsener, König Pilsener Alkoholfrei, König Pilsener Radler and TH. König Zwickl, the Duisburger König Brewery is one of the largest and most successful premium breweries in Germany. During the tour through the “royal” brewery, visitors learn what makes the König brands so special. Duration: Most of our guided and other tours are scheduled to last 2 hours. We will be glad to adjust the times to meet your individual desires. Please keep in mind that a guided tour should last at least 1.5 hours, otherwise we cannot guarantee that we will be able to convey all the information to you in the desired quality. Language: For group tours, you have different language options. At present, we offer German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish and Italian. You can get detailed information on which tours can be offered in which language. There is a surcharge of EUR 10.00 per hour. Number of participants: The maximum number of participants per guide / group can be found in the information box under the tour description. If your group is made up of a larger number of persons, it is necessary to book a suitable number of tour guides. In the case of tours that use busses, e.g. the City Tour, the number of participants depends on bus capacity.
