Some Key Dates – advance notice
Photographs – an important reminder
Class assemblies – Sparrows (20 January); Eagles (03 February). All of the spring diary dates, including class assemblies up to Easter, are available on the school’s website.
As the spring term gets underway there will be a number of our very popular class assemblies taking place on Friday mornings. There will also be other events and celebrations to which parents are warmly invited. I would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to our procedures for photographs at such events throughout the year.
Parent – Teacher Consultations
The school governors and I are very mindful that parents value having a photo or even a short video as a precious memory of these events in their children’s lives and, as you know, we have always allowed this to happen. However, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all that any images which show any other child as well as your own, even in the background or as a group, must remain for your personal use only and are not to be shared on social media. Some parents feel, quite rightly, very strongly about this and I have a duty to protect their wishes. You will notice over the coming months that we will tighten up our procedures around this issue as part of our ongoing safeguarding duties. Schools are not alone in this, it’s also a matter for other organisations such as church groups, cubs and scouts, sports clubs, and so forth.
These consultations are scheduled for later this term, on 06 and 09 February. I know how much parents value these opportunities to find out how their children are progressing and to raise any queries or concerns. As always, the message is – please don’t wait for parents’ evening to raise any real concerns; do let us know at any time so that we can work with you to put things right. We’ve been discussing how best to organise things this year in view of the new Key Stage 2 class structures. Therefore we would like to offer you the opportunity to book separate appointments with your child’s maths and English teachers, so look out for a letter coming soon in which I will confirm which is your child’s teacher for each subject and set out the details you need to know about booking appointments this year, based on successful models at other schools. Finally, a quick reminder to make sure we have all of your current contact details in the (hopefully unlikely) event of severe weather. You will be notified by text if school is closed.
