Museum Under the Bridge

Coonamble Agricultural Field Day

Built in 1886, the Museum is the former police barracks and includes the ‘trooper’ brick horse stable, maintained in original condition and is one of only two of its kind remaining in NSW. 02 6822 2873

Saturday 24 March The Coonamble Agricultural Field Day is a showcase of the latest in agricultural machinery, equipment and services. Farmers and graziers from around the region will have the opportunity to explore current and future leading edge technology.

Macquarie Marshes Bird Viewing Platform Enjoy an elevated view of the wetlands, one of the largest inland semi-permanent wetlands in south-eastern Australia. The Macquarie Marshes is situated on the lower Macquarie River, approximately 73km west of Coonamble. 02 6827 1923

Corrugated Iron Galahs Forty galah sculptures constructed using old corrugated iron found within and around Gulargambone, stud the township. Take that all important selfie with one of the galahs guiding you into Gulargambone. 02 6827 1923

Nickname Hall of Fame The only one of its kind in Australia celebrating names referring to personality and appearance. Scattered around the Central Business District you’ll find hilarious caricatures - complete with associated nicknames - mounted on the sides of shops, pubs and restaurants. 02 6827 1923

Coonamble Water Tower Mural Coonamble’s 26m water tower has been transformed into an artwork by Lightning Ridge artists John Murray, Bob Barret and local Coonamble resident and Aboriginal artist, Sooty Welsh. Located in Coonamble’s sportsground on the Castlereagh Highway, it is an attraction not to be missed. 02 6827 1923

Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft June Long Weekend Cowboys and cowgirls converge on Coonamble for the largest combined rodeo and campdraft in the Southern Hemisphere. The Coonamble Showground is transformed into a full-on explosion of wild riding action, arts and craft exhibitions and live music.

Coonamble Greyhound Carnival October Long Weekend The Coonamble Greyhound Carnival is one of the biggest country racing carnivals in NSW and features some of the State’s best trainers.

Macquarie Marshes Discovery Weekend October Long Weekend A rare opportunity to experience the internationally recognised wetland. The guided walk includes insights and stories told by experienced NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service staff.
