My bachelor project takes inspiration in the music piece Radio Ladio by Metronomy and is designed for the French fashion brand ChloĂŠ. The collection consists of 27 woven - and knitted fabrics and has a colourful and young but yet sophisticated expression. Due to the combination of the bindings and the yarns, applied in the collection, the digital knitted fabrics stands out by having a much more compact look and touch than normally seen in knitted fabrics. Yet they still comprise a great range of qualities and expressions. The woven samples are made on a 24-shafted computerized handloom and are all double-layered fabrics. The warp treads are made in two different colours and materials to emphasize contrasts within the material. In some of the woven textiles a special shrink yarn has been used in the weft together with a non-shrink yarn to create volume between the layers in the very light weighted fabrics.

The Japanese Sailor is a project inspired by the fine block prints of Japan and the early 20th century European sailors. The collection consists of knitted fabrics only and has a nostalgic yet sophisticated expression. The colours are carried out in a narrow colour scale of blues, reds, whites, greys, blacks and golden tones, which are partly chosen from the inspiration proposal. The fabrics in the collection has a compact yet not heavy fell due to the bindings and the use of thin under layering elastic yarns, which also are used to create fine textures within the textiles. The combination of the bindings and the binding-like patterns also creates purl-like fields within some of the textiles, which are enhanced by thick silk yarns in combination with thinner silk yarns.

MA RESEARCH - ONGOING PROJECT A/W 2016-17 (2015) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

The MA research project is an ongoing project leading towards my final master collection. In the collection I am exploring the abstraction of the knitted cable with a focus on 3-dimensional and textured surfaces thorugh processes of knitting in order to obtain new and innovative expressions within knitwear. The project is based upon the newest Stoll knit programming technologies and has an aim-based design approach. The final result will be a collection of knits towards knitwear. LOCAL WISDOM A FIELD STUDY (2013) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

Local Wisdom is a sustainability project, which aims to prolong the lifespan of clothing by creating new consumption patterns among consumers. The concept has its foundation in field studies in which we found that the textiles, from which the garment was made, often were the determining factor for the lifespan of the garment. Furthermore we concluded that characteristics such as textures, relief surfaces and contrasting yarns played an immense role when it came to the rating of the garment and therefore we also decided to build our fashion and textile collection on these values. The A/W13-14 collection is executed in light colours, and is a combination of bulky and fluffy knits and subtle textured wovens. I must draw your attention to the fact that this project is a result of group work consisting of Trine Stenmann Jensen (fashion design student), Pernille Kaab Mosegaard (fashion design student) and me: Drua Sif Simone Albrechtsen (textile design student).

INTO THE BLUE A WORKSHOP (2013) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

Into the Blue is a short time project directed towards jacquard weaving and analogue print with reactive colours. The project is a part of a longer introduction course within the field of analogue and digital textile techniques. In the project different sketching techniques has been investigated of which only the one chosen is represented here. On the jacquard loom I have been working with the shaded satin bindings and the satin-based weft back structure bindings (a single layered binding, which allows different weft colours to appear in well defined areas on the front side of the textile). To obtain the

blurry look from the sketches I have worked with different twisted lyrex yarns in combination with ordinary cotton - and silk yarns. In the analogue printed textiles I have been working with different layers of colours and the mix between the colours, which these layers creates. Here the primary focus has been on the effect of light and dark colours meeting, contrasting colours meeting and colours within the same colour family meeting. The result of the project is not intended to be a finished collection but rather a series of experiments within each technique. This page includes only some chosen experiments.

ECCO COMPANY COLLABORATION (2013) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

With inspiration in the feeling from Recondite’s music piece ”Clouded” we created a shoe collection for ECCO consisting of nine shoes of which three is here represented. To obtain a united understanding in the group of the overall feeling in the music we created a moodboard. Some of our keywords were: solid, whimsical, sharp, contrast, artificial, edged, glossy and heavy. These words, pictures and feelings we used to generate materials, shapes and colours and in the end we combined it into a perfect universe of loaded desolation. Listen to the inspiration music at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPODefkT1Qg Group work by Trine Stenmann Jensen (fashion design student), Nanna Aakjær Sørensen (industrial design student) and me: Drua Sif Simone Albrechtsen (textile design student).

INDIGO - PREMIĂˆRE VISION PARIS 2014 (2014) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

The collection takes inspiration from textures in nature and old metallic surfaces and is designed for the Indigo fair, which is a part of the Première Vision in Paris. The collection consists of woven and knitted samples and is executed in pale winter colours and metallic shades which emphasizes the crispiness of the constructions. In the woven fabrics I have among other things been working with transparency in the layers inspired by the fine nets that covers the physalis and the subtle relief effect that occurs when mixing different yarns in a double weave. In the knitted fabrics I have been working with stronger relief effects with woollen and shiny silky surfaces to imitate and intensify the inspiration proposal.

KYRGYZ FOLKLORE S/S 2014 (2013) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

This collection is inspired by an old kyrgyz nomad womens costume. The costume consist of an ikat woven coat, an embroidered head piece, a turban, undergarments and some metal and glas ornaments.

patterns to invent new patterns. The colours are taken from details in the coat and are mixed with a natural white which gives the colour scheme a more modern and contemporary look.

To achieve the blurry feeling of the ikat I sketched with watercolours and oil pastels, which I then processed in Photoshop. Here I created half mirrored patterns inspired by the backside of the head piece and used details from the

The effect yarns which I twisted with silk yarns is inspired by the metal ornaments and the old belief among nomads that glittering things would distract the Evil Eye and thereby save the owner.

A WINTER TALE A/W 2014-15 (2014-15) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

The collection takes inspiration in the Scandinavian winter landscape and the cold and snowy forests of Sweden. The work consists of woven and knitted samples with a focus on the knitted samples. To create the textured relief surfaces I have used advanced Stoll programming techniques, which allows different bindings in the separated colour fields.

ADVANCEMENT TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY (2014) - PORTFOLIO - DRUA ALBRECHTSEN

The Advancement Textile Technology course forms a technical project within knitting. The intention of the project was to acquire programming skills within a self-chosen area of the field. This selection aims to investigate textual and relief possibilities within knitting by use of Colour Arrangement Modules, which allows full control of bindings in all colour fields and even within colour fields.
