Department Preview: PATIENT ACCESS SERVICES About the Department Department Overview

Patient Access includes Outpatient Registration, Centralized Scheduling, Admitting, Emergency Department Registration and Reception, Insurance Verification and the Cashier. We work as a support department to schedule and register patients by obtaining demographic and insurance information. We then deal with insurance companies to verify benefits and ensure that services will get paid timely. We consistently strive for excellence in customer satisfaction which we have achieved. We are also often the first encounter that patients and visitors experience and we offer a professional and pleasant first impression of CentraState.

Department Staffing/Positions

Patient Access has a variety of full and part time positions in all departments.

Scheduling & Shifts

Patient Access works 8 hours shifts primarily during the first (7a-3p) and second (3p-11p) shifts with a third shift (11p-7a) operating in the Emergency Department.

Clinical Applications

Meditech is the scheduling and registration system. We also utilize the Siemen’s EHIM system to do electronic imaging and signature. Insurance Verification staff works in our AS400 billing system and works with the Voicert and Pixcert system. Access staff also utilizes a Bed Management system for Patient Throughput.
