A letter from our

General Manager/CEO Kent Schimke Save the Date for Your Cooperative’s Annual Meting

DRN’s 71st annual meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, October 21 at the Ellendale Public School. Please watch your mail for more details as the day approaches. We are excited to see many of our members attend this special celebration in person!

Eastern North Dakota Fiber Expansion Project

We continue to make progress on our strategic plan to keep rural America connected. ReadiTech is working to bring fiber-to-the-home service to residents of Casselton, Mapleton and Horace as a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC). Our ReadiTech Engineering group and contractors are continuing construction on the main lines and fiber drops to homes and businesses. Learn more about ReadiTech Fiber at

DRN ReadiTech Wi-Fi App

We recently introduced the DRN ReadiTech Wi-Fi App that gives you an instant snapshot of your home or small business network. View all the connected devices on your network, set up parental controls or a guest network, run speed tests, change your SSID and password, and more on our Wi-Fi App. I encourage you to download this free app to experience ultimate Wi-Fi.

Summer Fiber New Builds and Construction/Pre-Construction

If you plan to build a new home, business or other location that requires fiber telecommunications services, please let us know so we can place fiber at your location before the ground freezes. As summer seems to fly by, ground freeze sneaks up on us quickly putting a damper on fiber construction.

Perfect Time to Set Up Outdoor Security Systems

When it comes to protecting your home and property, outdoor weather-proof security and surveillance systems play an important role. Summer is the perfect time for DRN ReadiTech to install or update a security system for your home, business or summer home.

COVID-19 Pandemic

I am very pleased to see the new normal come to fruition relative to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our offices are open to the public once again, parking lots are full, and desks are filled with employees. We are still monitoring state and federal health and safety trends related to COVID-19. As we continue to do our part to stay healthy, I am looking forward to meeting face to face in the coming months at our customer appreciation picnics this summer on August 3-4 and the annual meeting on October 21. With your continued patronage and support, DRN ReadiTech will remain among the top cooperatives nationwide. We appreciate you all and your support! Have a safe and wonderful summer! Kent

Streaming Made Simple

treaming is a fast way to access Internet content. The content is delivered to your device quickly, but it isn’t stored there. The streaming content could “live” in the cloud, or on someone else’s computer or server. For example, if you’re streaming a movie from Amazon Prime, you can enjoy it on your Roku, Smart TV, or another device, but it resides on Amazon’s servers. When you’re done watching, there’s no copy left on your device.

What do I need to stream TV?

Streaming TV requires a relatively fast Internet connection. This is good news for DRN ReadiTech subscribers, the best Internet connection for streaming video is fiber Internet. You will also need a streaming device—either a smart TV, laptop, gaming console, or a smart device. An

older TV will need a streaming device like a Roku Streaming Stick plugged into the HDMI input on your TV.

Which video streaming service is best?

With dozens of video streaming services available, it can be difficult to choose which ones are the right for you.You may have heard of Netflix & Hulu, but what about HBO Max & YouTube TV? Each streaming service delivers a unique experience for viewers. According to PC Magazine the top 10 streaming picks for 2021 are: Hulu, Curiosity Stream, Peacock, Disney +, HBO Max, Prime Video, Fubo TV, Plex and Netflix.

Some of the most popular and preferred video services available: n Netflix–best library n Amazon Prime Video–best perks n Hulu–best for network shows n Peacock–NBC exclusives n HBO NOW–best original shows n The Criterion Channel – best classic movies
