This week, property experts have announced that poor broadband speeds can lower a property price by up to 20%, and is a big “deal breaker”. The need to be connected has parked itself firmly near the top of the tenant/home buyer checklist – no one wants to miss out on social media, online shopping or video streaming websites.

Property portal Rightmove has even added a broadband speed checker, and has found that broadband was ranked as a more important feature than information on transport links and nearby schools.

Halifax figures show house prices up 7.9% in just one year House prices surged at their strongest rate since 2007 in February as values rose by 7.9 per cent compared with a year ago, taking the average price in Britain to £179,872.
