LOCAL COMMITTE PRESIDENT GREETING Hi, AIESEC! What’s up? It’s truly an honor for me to have chance to greet you all, my beloved exchange participants. I know that it was not an easy decision; by being an exchange participant with AIESEC also means investments of time, energy, money, and other resources. I was once also an exchange participant candidate, went through all the questions if my investments worth it, scared of what experiences would I get, terrified of anything that could be happen when I am being so far away from home. It’s okay. It’s a normal feeling. Be afraid, but never be knocked down by your fear. I want to share one advice that my sister gave when I told her that I was afraid to do social project abroad: ‘as long as you have ears to listen, and mouth to talk, all the things is gonna be alright.’. In that time, I understood it as an ability of communicating with people so if I’m lost, then I can ask. But now, I realize that it can be interpreted broader than that. You have an ability to listen and express. Listen to understand, express to invite understanding. Because in the end, there’s nothing to be feared of. All are only to be understood. You are the owner of your experience. Make it counts. Design it and live it. Don’t just exist, but do live. Explore what you want to explore and dig deeper so you can have wider view of the world. Here, we’re waiting for you to come home as a better individual that can lead the future of Indonesia. Best regards, Arsafira Jaya Mahvera Local Committee President of AIESEC in UGM
