To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for David Pillen in support of his effons to pursue graduate studies at your university.
I have known David for three years as an advisor of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Abilene Christian University where David is an active member. He immediately became involved the semester he transferred here. Through a selective application process with our conference, he soon became our Lone Star Conference representative to the Division II National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) SAAC. His natural leadership abilities quickly gained him the respect of this committee who relied on him to speak on its behalf in several venues. David is an Electronic Media major and has put his skills to use in projects that enhanced the integrity of our conference, university, and the organizations he is involved with. He created a video for our conference as they launched enhanced organizational values and a new slogan. SAAC's involvement with the Make-A-Wish Foundation this past year motivated David to create a video of our "wish child" to aid in fund raising efforts. This video caught the eye of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department and resulted in David receiving the 2011 Clarion Award, a prestigious award given to a JMC student called to a career ofservice. David has an easy going personality, yet is focused and possesses a strong work ethic. I am often amazed how well he maintains his academics along with the demands of being a student-athlete and the load he carries with his responsibilities and involvement in other organizations. I have every confidence he would be successful in his pursuit of a graduate degree and be an asset to your program. I recommend him
without hesitation. Respectfully,
Ann Varner Asst. Athletic Director/Academic Services
