Song of Assembly1 Great God Who Saves

Oh, the promises of God, the rock on which I stand, The truths to which I cling. His love that knows no bounds; He showers us with grace, Withholding no good thing.

And I would have despaired if I had not believed That You would come to me, great God who saves. And in my darkest hour, Your mercy and Your power Are reaching out to me, great God who saves. Oh, the mystery of God, who holds all space and time, Yet knows my every need. The vastness of Your power, the strength You give the weak; I soar on eagle’s wings. And in my pain and in my need, You heard me calling out Your name. When I was blind and could not see, You stepped in and saved a wretch like me, And saved a wretch like me. Great God who saves.

Welcome and Preparation for Worship “As this broken bread, once dispersed over the hills, was brought together and became one loaf, so may your church be brought together from the ends of the earth into your kingdom.” - a prayer prayed over the communion bread from “The Didache” (“Didache” means “teaching”), a church manual of sorts that had already been written and widely circulated throughout the Christian churches by 100 A.D. “The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” - 1 Corinthians 10:17

Psalm 96:7-9

Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth! 1

Call to Confession of Sin

Hymn of Praise

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity. Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee. Who wert, and art, and evermore shall be.

Corporate Confession of Sin Our Father in heaven, You are merciful to us, and have forgiven our sins. Your power has freed us from the kingdom of darkness. Instead of being slaves to sin, we gladly serve you as our King.

O Lord, we disobey Your Law every day. Cause us to hate the sins we commit against You and others. We know we cannot obey You on our own. We need Your help to live as we ought. Holy Spirit, continue Your work in us so that we might do Your will. Keep us from the way of sin and lead us in the paths of righteousness. For the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon in Christ

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth, and sky and sea, Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

Confession of Faith

Romans 6:1 & 15

But we still struggle with sin. We don’t reflect Your character in the world as we ought. Instead of desiring fellowship with You, our hearts have longed for the pleasures of this life. Rather than seeking Your favor, we have sought the approval of others. Rather than serving others, we have served ourselves.

Holy, Holy, Holy! Though the darkness hide Thee, Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see, Only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee, Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

When I stumble and my faith is small, I will call Your name, great God who saves.

Call to Worship2

Prayer of Adoration & Praise

Worship with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

John Piper

Arise, My Soul, Arise

Jesus died in my place, the righteous for the unrighteous. God counted him, who was sinless, to be a sinner, so that in him I, who am a sinner, could be counted righteous. He opened the blind eyes of my heart and brought me to faith and repentance. By his Spirit he has come to live in my heart through faith, and is slowly working his character into my stubborn will.

Arise, my soul arise, shake off your guilty fears, The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears. Before the throne, my Surety stands, Before the throne, my Surety stands, My name is written on His hands.

Not only that, but this Jesus Christ created the world, including me, and holds it in being by the word of his power. Every breath I take, every beat of my heart, every moment of seeing and hearing, every movement of my mind, is owing to the sustaining grace and creative power of Jesus. All other acknowledgments and thanks are secondary and dependent on this one.

Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul, arise! Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul, arise, Shake off your guilty fear and rise!

Grace Like Rain Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me! And I once was lost, but now I’m found, Was blind, but now I see so clearly. Hallelujah! Grace like rain falls down on me. Hallelujah! And all my stains are washed away, They’re washed away. ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing Your praise Than when we first begun.

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

He ever lives above for me to intercede, His all redeeming love, His precious blood to plead, His blood atoned for every race, His blood atoned for every race, And sprinkles now the throne of grace. Five bleeding wounds He bears received on Calvary, They pour effectual prayers, they strongly plead for me, “Forgive him, oh forgive”, they cry, “Forgive him, oh forgive”, they cry, “Nor let that ransomed sinner die”. My God is reconciled, His pardoning voice I hear, He owns me for His child, I can no longer fear, With confidence I now draw nigh, With confidence I now draw nigh, And “Father, Abba, Father” cry.

I Give You My Heart

I Will Glory In My Redeemer

This is my desire, to honor You; Lord, with all my heart, I worship You; All I have within me, I give You praise; All that I adore is in You. Lord, I give You my heart, I give You my soul, I live for You alone; Every breath that I take, every moment I’m awake, Lord, have Your way in me.

Rock of Ages

I will glory in my Redeemer, My life He bought, my love He owns, I have no longings for another, I’m satisfied in Him alone. I will glory in my Redeemer, His faithfulness my standing place, Though foes are mighty and rush upon me, My feet are firm, held by His grace, My feet are firm held by His grace.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, from Thy wounded side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure, cleanse me from its guilt and power. Not the labors of my hands can fulfill Thy law’s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to Thy cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress; helpless, look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the Fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die.

I will glory in my Redeemer, Who carries me on eagle’s wings, He crowns my life with lovingkindness, His triumph song I’ll ever sing. I will glory in my Redeemer, Who waits for me at gates of gold, And when he calls me it will be paradise, His face forever to behold, His face forever to behold.

While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyelids close in death; When I soar to worlds unknown, see Thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee.

Take My Life

Matthew 15:1-20

Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in endless praise.

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper A Word About Communion - The bread and juice you see on the Communion table may not look like much to the casual observer. In fact, it is merely bread and juice. What makes this meal special is that the Lord Jesus Christ is spiritually present in a unique way. This sacrament is not something to be taken lightly but neither is it a time to be somber; rather, we should be filled with thankfulness and joy. Our Savior, out of His great mercy, bids His people to come to this meal. If you are a member of a church who embraces the Gospel of Jesus Christ and are at peace with your fellow Christians, we welcome you to this table. Come and consider with us our Lord’s body and shed blood symbolized in the bread and juice. Rejoice with us in our union with Him and with each other as His Covenant people.

from Philippians 3:8

May the Lord grant you to see where you are lacking, that you may have everything; May he grant you a vision of your poverty, that you might be rich beyond measure; May he show you that you are destitute, so that you may be filled with the fullness of his supply.

L. “Hear and Understand”: A Very Important Passage, Part II

I will glory in my Redeemer, Whose priceless blood has ransomed me, Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails And hung Him on that judgment tree. I will glory in my Redeemer Who crushed the power of sin and death, My only Savior before the holy Judge, The Lamb who is my righteousness, The Lamb who is my righteousness.

Here am I, all of me. Take my life, it's all for Thee.

Just as God called us into His presence at the beginning, so now He commands His blessing upon us as we depart. We look up and extend our hands in a posture of thanksgiving as we receive this great gift. Our final response to God’s assurance of His peace and presence upon those who are in Christ is a chorus of joyful song.
