Confession of Faith

Welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus! If you are a guest with us, please be sure to sign our Registry when it is passed during the service. Children are welcome in our worship. We have a nursery available for children 3 and under. Children not yet in kindergarten will be dismissed prior to the sermon. Thank you for joining us today and may the Lord richly bless you.

We are like living stones, being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. We are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that we may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once we were not a people, but now we are God’s people; once we had not received mercy, but now we have received mercy.

Welcome and Preparation for Worship Do we not know that we are dying daily, that death is working in us, and hastening towards us, and that death fetches us to judgment, and judgment fixeth us in our everlasting state? And have we not then something to say to God in preparation for what is before us? Shall we not say, Lord make us to know our end! Lord teach us to number our days! Have we not business with God to judge ourselves that we may not be judged, and to see that our matters be right and good? - Matthew Henry

Call to Worship1

Psalm 117

Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! For great is His steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!

Hymn of Praise2

All creatures of our God and King, Lift up your voice and with us sing, alleluia, alleluia! Thou burning sun with golden beam, Thou silver moon with softer gleam, O praise Him, O praise Him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Thou rushing wind that art so strong, Ye clouds that sail in heav’n along, O praise Him, alleluia! Thou rising morn in praise rejoice, Ye lights of evening, find a voice, O praise Him, O praise Him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Thou flowing water, pure and clear, Make music for thy Lord to hear, alleluia, alleluia! Thou fire so masterful and bright, That givest man both warmth and light, O praise Him, O praise Him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! And all ye men of tender heart, Forgiving others, take your part, O sing ye, alleluia! Ye who long pain and sorrow bear, Praise God and on Him cast your care, O praise Him, O praise Him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Like a River Glorious

Grace Like Rain

Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand, never foe can follow, never traitor stand; Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care, not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.

Hallelujah! Grace like rain falls down on me. Hallelujah! And all my stains are washed away, They’re washed away.

Ev’ry joy or trial falleth from above, traced upon our dial by the Son of Love. We may trust Him fully all for us to do; they who trust Him wholly, find Him wholly true.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed.

Isaiah 64:6

We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing Your praise Than when we first begun.

Corporate Confession of Sin Father, as we come before your throne and see your glory and majesty, we are tempted to despair as we look upon the frailty, sin and weakness that fill our hearts. As we come before your throne and see your holiness and justice, we are eternally grateful that we do not stand alone, for on our own we would rightly face judgment and death. Help us daily to renew our trust in Jesus Christ who pleads for us. Help us daily to refresh ourselves with the blood of Christ that covers our sin and gives us the right to stand, not as slaves facing conviction, but as sons and daughters basking in your delight. Help us to see you, Father, rejoicing over us with singing: may this reality move us towards holiness in our lives as we joyfully offer ourselves to you as an act of thanksgiving for your amazing grace toward us. We pray this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon in Christ

1 John 5:13

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

In Christ Alone

Townend

In Christ Alone my hope is found, He is my strength, my light, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! – Who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross, as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied, My every sin on Him was laid - here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, light of the world in darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory, sin’s curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine - bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me; From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I’ll stand!

Corporate Prayer We will trust in You always We will live in Your Light We rejoice in Your goodness Almighty King

Collins

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me! And I once was lost, but now I’m found, Was blind, but now I see so clearly.

(Chorus) Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest; Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest

Almighty King Let all things their Creator bless, And worship Him in humbleness, O praise Him, alleluia! Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, And praise the Spirit, Three in One, O praise Him, O praise Him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

I will drink from Your fountain I will sing to my Lord I’ll rejoice in Your goodness Almighty King

Like a river glorious, is God’s perfect peace, over all victorious in its bright increase, Perfect yet it floweth fuller every day, perfect yet it groweth deeper all the way.

Matthew 9:14-17

Rev. Rob Bailey

Commissioning of the Dominican Republic Mission Team The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper A Word About Communion – The bread and juice you see on the Communion table may not look like much to the casual observer. In fact, it is merely bread and juice. What makes this meal special is that the Lord Jesus Christ is spiritually present in a unique way. This sacrament is not something to be taken lightly but neither is it a time to be somber; rather, we should be filled with thankfulness and joy. Our Savior, out of His great mercy, bids His people to come to this meal. If you are a member of a church who embraces the Gospel of Jesus Christ and are at peace with your fellow Christians, we welcome you to this table. Come and consider with us our Lord’s body and shed blood symbolized in the bread and juice. Rejoice with us in our union with Him and with each other as His Covenant people. For those not taking Communion today, we encourage you to carefully think on the prayers found in the section entitled: “Prayers for Those Not Communing”, and we look forward to the day when you may join us in this meal.

Here I Am to Worship

Hughes

Light of the world, You stepped down into darkness, Opened my eyes, let me see. Beauty that made this heart adore You, hope of a life spent with You. Here I am to worship; here I am to bow down, Here I am to say that You’re my God. You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me. King of all days, oh so highly exalted. Glorious in heaven above. Humbly you came to the earth You created. All for love’s sake became poor. I’ll never know how much it cost To see my sin upon that cross.

4, 5, & 6-year-old children may be dismissed before the sermon to Godly Play in room 173. Just as God has the first word in worship, he also has the last word. For those who are in Christ Jesus, these are always words of blessing. We look up and extend our hands out in a posture of receiving the blessing of God.

Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. Amen.

Prayer of Belief Heavenly Father, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but, through Your Son Jesus, I can be more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank You that He lived the life I should have lived, and paid the debt and punishment I owed. Receive me now for His sake. I turn from my sins and receive Him as Savior. Amen.

Prayer for Those Struggling with Sin Lord Jesus, grant that I may see in you the fulfillment of all my need, and may turn from every false satisfaction to feed on you, the true and living bread. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race set before me, looking to you, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. Amen.

Prayer of Commitment Lord Jesus, you have called us to follow you in baptism and in a life of committed discipleship in your church. Grant that I may take the necessary steps to be one with your people, and live in the fullness of your Spirit. Amen.
