ARTS CONCENTRATION PHOTOGRAPHY 2 014 , P T . I
This is a collection of my work in Arts Concentration during my junior year. They are just views of my world based on how I see it. A variety of color and black and white photos, I have tried to convey what I have seen through digital photography.
MY VISION OF PHOTOGRAPHY September, 2013: I begin my journey through Arts Concentration. I still don’t know exactly what I want to do, but I’m trying to figure out what it is that I’m here for and some specific projects that I can channel my interest in photography towards. I’m always taking photos of scenes that I think are interesting. Sometimes what I see is beautiful, sometimes it’s disturbing. Often, both. One of the personal challenges to me as a photographer is finding variation in the every day repetition of life. I really try to find new, original compositions, or at least new, original compositions of old scenes. I’m also constantly struggling with deciding what is worth having its photo taken. This program is specifically challenging, because you have ask yourself one question, all the time: What is art? There’s no answer to that question, so how do you reconcile something so broad with something so specific like a project or a program? I guess that’s what I’m pursuing throughout this process. This book or journal is a record of my progress throughout my 5th form year. I hope by the end of this year that I will have a considerable body of work and a clear sense of direction for where I want to go with this next year, as a senior.
