Australia’s first $100 notes – from original bundles! The difficulty in finding the 1984 Johnston/Stone $100 and 1985 Johnston/Fraser $100 notes in this superb condition is largely due to the status of the $100 as Australia’s highest denomination. Although inflationary pressures of the early 1980s had ensured that the $50 was superseded at the nation’s highest denomination, $100 still represented

The one, the only Silver Round 50c! Australia’s first 50c date, and a one-year-only issue, the 1966 Silver Round 50c forms the foundation of every Australian decimal collection. Australia’s only round 50c, and only circulating decimal coin struck in precious metal, we are delighted to present this distinctive, controversial silver coin type in premium grade. Intended to be the ‘glamour‘ coin of the .changeover, the first 50c was struck to a higher silver purity than any coin since WWII – 80% fine. Treasury warned that the issue of such a coin for circulation was fraught with danger, and within a short time, rising silver prices saw the RAM cease production in late 1966. By 1968, with the silver value of the coin rising to 76c, it was withdrawn from circulation. When the Government, which resisted public pressure in 1967 and 1968 for the concept of a 50c coin to be scrapped, did unveil the new 50c, it was neither round nor struck from precious metal –

rendering the 80% Silver Round 50c a unique, one-year-only type. A wonderful opportunity to add this crucial coin to your collection in top grade, we have the 1966 Silver Round 50c in both EF-aUnc and strictly Unc quality, with each coin presented in a colourful, informative card. 1966 SILVER ROUND 50c UNC
