Notes of Interest ………………………………………………………… Please send notes of your quartet’s outings, Shows that you have seen, Quartet or Chorus news from around New England to: soundings.ed@gmail.com A BIG THANK YOU from Dick Wheeler Thanks so much, Bruce, for dedicating last weeks SOUNDINGS to me. It was a big surprise and I feel honored. Thanks for listing the various functions I have done. To that list you can add perennial ticket chairman for the annual shows and several times I had to contact the guest quartets. During the long period when I edited the bulletin I used two typewriters. One was electric. Every time you would hit an "h", it would skip a space. The other typewriter needed constant cleaning. Many of the keys were fading. I recall taking the bulletin to a Kinko shop to get copies made. The printer got on my case and told me to get my act together. Just one of Life's Darkest Moments. Again, Bruce, many thanks for the special dedication issue. I appreciate it very much. "Father" Wheeler

Baritone- The Honeymooners The Show of Champions, The Emerson Umbrella Theater 40 Stow Street in Concord. Mass Sat. June 23 at 7:30 pm. This will be an exciting show! In addition to Sounds of Concord, we will also feature the University of Newcastle Chamber Choir from Australia! This ensemble is a 2010 World Choir Games gold medaliist, making a Boston stop on their way to perform at the UN General Assembly in NYC and then off

to Cincinnati to defend their title at the World Choir Games. Here's a video piece about their win at the 2008 Battle of the Choirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvzVDh8jByY The choir performs a combination of classical and contemporary a cappella, put that together with our barbershop and we have a show with three great musical styles. Sounds of Concord's portion of the program will also be filled with harmony, including some new additions to our repertoire and of course, our Portland contest package. And there's still more! Downtown Crossing, 2011 NED Silver Medalist, and Testostertones, 2012 Patriot Division Champion will also perform. The emcee will be BHS International President, Alan Lamson. This show is a fundraiser for Sounds of Concord's International Travel Fund, and we truly appreciate your support to help us get there. Tickets are $20 general admission, $25 reserved seating. Go to http://www.soundsofconcord.org <http://www.soundsofconcord.org/> for all of the details, including the flier. Tickets can be ordered through our Ticket Chairman, Mark Russell Prior tix@soundsofconcord.org Order early, as indications are that this show may sell-out. And there will be a fine afterglow at Uno's in Waltham- good food and lots of singing opportunity with our Australian guests!. This will be pay-as-you-go and will be a dough raiser for Sounds of Concord, so please print the coupon from our website and bring it with you. Thank you and we hope to see you on the 23rd!
