Downeasters Chorus Rehearsal Agenda for December 31, 2012 No Rehearsal December 31, 2012 We wish that everyone enjoys an Harmonious, Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
New Music Schedule Downeasters, I'm sitting here waiting for the storm to arrive and decided not to wait for tomorrow just incase we lose power. As we all prepare for the new year of singing, we need to spend some time not only on the new music but also review the following songs. I NEVER KNEW MEDLEY, LOVE ME and WHO'LL TAKE MY PLACE WHEN I'M GONE. One or two of these songs might replace one or both of the new contest if they are not ready for the contest in March. We need to be prepared with a back up plan. The 2013 contest songs are: YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO YOUNG and THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT. We have about ten weeks before the division contest so let spend some time each day on all the contest songs: new and old. Priscilla and I wish all of the Downeasters family: A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Jack
Downeasters, As you study the contest music for rehearsals, work on your part but also listen to the full mix to become familiar with the melody. This should help you learn the interpretation and breathing plan. At chorus rehearsal, each part will be sung in section and not all on the lead line. Bring a copy of each song to rehearsal, Jan 7th. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL. Jack

The Way You Look Tonight Feliz Navidad, Merry Christmas, or as Exchange Street would say, Mele Kalikimaka Since we are learning "The Way You Look Tonight", I thought you might like to see the original with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (no dancing!!) from the 1936 movie "Swing Time". Here is the youtube link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPx-bR5iXnk Enjoy, Cy
You Make Me Feel So Young While we're at it, here is "You Make Me Feel So Young", our other contest song from the 1946 movie "Three Little Girls In Blue". It takes a little over a minute for Vera-Ellen and Charles Smith to start singing, so don't give up. It's also a very long dream sequence, so feel free to give up after about 3 minutes unless you are into long dream/dance sequences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q85apiL7oI Cy I heard that we will have some Noreasters blowing in to join us at the Installation Banguet!
