Old Timers Night Active, inactive and former members along with family and friends are invited to a special night on October 15. This is the last rehearsal before the district competition and is a great opportunity to renew old friendships, sing a few songs, and see the Downeasters perform their contest package. Chapter quartets will also be strutting their stuff. That, combined with refreshments should make for a fun evening. So we hope to see everyone at the Tuttle Road United Methodist Church in Cumberland at 7 PM on October 15. Cy Kendrick From The Music Leadership Team On behalf of the entire Music Le adership Team, thank you for your hard work, loyalty and perseverance in preparing for our District Convention. PITTSBURGH QUARTET SINGS AT FRYEBURG by Dick Wheeler For the past fifteen years, Max Brandt of Limington has organized the appearance of a quartet which spends part of a day at the Fryeburg Fair. In the past his quartet has included such NED luminaries as Frank Lanza and Tom Potenza. The rest of the quartet usually included Max and someone from the Pittsburgh Chapter in which Max is still a member. For several years Tommy Palamone, an octogenarian, was part of the visiting quartet. Palamone and Lanza were in International championship quartets. This year Max imported four members from Pittsburgh and Max filled in for various members needing a break. (he sings anything except bass). For those not acquainted with Max, he was on our bus trip to Philadelphia and last year he sang bari in the ANCIENT WOODSHEDDERS who won the intramural quartet contest produced by Bill Peterlein. Incidentally there are four chapters in the Pittsburgh area. Max says, "I'm in the fun one".
