Cross After Dark-CXLA Sponsorship Proposal December 1st & 2nd 2012 LA State Historic Park
OVERVIEW December 1st and 2nd, SoCalCross is hosting two days of world-class UCI sanctioned cyclocross racing. Saturday’s main event will take place under the lights as America’s top cyclocross racers duke it out in the finale of Cross After Dark. CXAD is a nationwide nighttime racing series that kicked off with Cross Vegas in September with stops in St. Louis and Cincinnati before the final showdown in LA. The Cross After Dark series is the largest cyclocross event in the United States drawing an average of 5,000 spectators per event with thousands more tuning in watch the race feed online. With less than 24 hours to recover, the racers will be back at it on Sunday battling for valuable UCI points at CXLA.
THE VENUE The venue is Los Angeles State Historic Park- a former rail yard turned urban oasis located just blocks from the heart of downtown in one of the most diverse and densely packed parts of LA. When LASHP hosted a UCI race weekend in 2011, cycling fans turned out in droves to soak up the fun and excitement of a world class cycling event happening literally in their own backyard. Don’t be surprised if there are on-course mariachi bands, traditional Japanese drum crews, and maybe even a couple of rock bands for good measure. LASHP is among the most spectator friendly venues to with e plenty of prime locations for sponsors to get noticed.

While serious racing is taking place with Cross After Dark-CXLA, serious nonsense will be taking place at the same time with the Single Speed Cyclocross World Championships. This 3 day event is the world’s wildest cross race. Hundreds of racers from around the globe will be slugging it out from qualifying rounds to the main event. Up for grabs are bragging rights that last a lifetime in the form of the mandatory winner’s tattoo for the male and female champion. SSCXWC is a wholly non-sanctioned race. Expect epic levels of hijinks and craziness both on and off the course and somewhere along the way two “world champions” will be crowned.
