DOOPLER Magazine is a small graphic reflection of the beauty of young faces. It’s a place where energy, sexuality, indifference and vitality of young boys, girls and more boys are reflected in the most deprived way. Each edition attempts to stay close to their faces that surprise us day by day. A mix of street kids, models, friends, designers and outsiders with a strong yet simple attitude. This open space is also built for you. If you are a model, a photographer or interested in getting involved in some way, please contact us. We are energy in motion and we depend on you.

DRAWINGS / ANDREA LA ROCCA TEXT / JOSE VETTER FOR DOOPLER MAGAZINE www.dooplerstudio.com.ar

A journey through graphite and watercolor from Italy to Russia, with Argentina as a final destination. The 27 years old Italian artist Andrea La Rocca delights us with the drawings he made based on pictures of Stephan Nikulenko, model and friend of DOOPLER Magazine. Andrea La Rocca finds in his drawings a connection to himself, a kind of portray in progress. His drawings transport us to a world with simple lines of sophisticated meanings that refer us to outstanding phallic elements. We invite you to look around through part of his most prominent work, along with four subtle visual narratives exclusively made for us by this talented artist.

Where and when were you born, where do you live now? -I was born year 1983 in Catania, a baroque town in Sicily, full of history and culture. For several years, i have lived between Catania an Milan, depending on my work commitments and to my mood. This year i have been a nomad: I am traveling a lot, I don’t have a permanent residence.

How would you describe your style? - I consider my style, my work, like a kind of “self portrait in progress”. A confession about secret things and expression of an interior experience. A way to know, to think, a way to discover myself and the world: all this related by surreal visions.

Do you have an education in what you’re doing? Are you an autodidact? - I studied in Urbino, one of the most beautiful towns of the Italian Renaissance. There I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, where the contact with other artists made me grow up every year.

Can you live on what you’re doing? - Today I do. The “artist job” is something abstract and indescribable. I could not live without art, i would be a misfit.

Do you work with other artists? - I have many artist friends with whom I have a great relationship and have cultural exchanges. Often we compare to each other. I find this important to grow.

With whom would you like to work someday? - I would like to work with Franko B. an artist who I love since the beginning and I finally met personally some months ago. His work is a powerful charge that can shake me. I wanna experience the thrill of conceiving with him a work for four hands. I really hope this will happen.

What did it take to get where you are now? - Basically it takes much heart and well trained shoulders. Work a lot without thinking about success or the audience, thinking only about oneself and about what we live everyday. But this is not enough, we need also good luck and to be in the right place in the right time. If the work is intellectually honest, everything will happen easier and gradually.

What makes you feel happy? - The thing that makes me happy is to feel loved and surrounded by my family and friends, with who i share my art adventure.

What are your future plans? - I am very ambitious and I have many projects in my mind right now. Currently Im preparing my next solo show in Milan: it will be a very peculiar path where the viewer will be able, through perceptual games, to come into my world. Im also starting to collaborate with young international galleries and curators. My greatest desire is to make my work known in New York.

DOOPLER Andrej Dubravsky by

PAINTINGS / ANDREJ DUBRAVSK ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY / ARMANDO FREZZE, FEDERICO CARAM FOR DOOPLER MAGAZINE www.dooplerstudio.com.ar

Czechoslovak artist, who lives and studies in Bratislava, at age 24 has a distinct style. With a playful look of teenagers in Wonderland, faces taken from our worst dreams and best nightmares, Andrej recreates scenes that at a first sight might suggIest prostitution and hook. He uses this to provide them with a new meaning and to exchange the roles between victim and victimizer. In order to accomplish this he uses a recurrent picture, the rabbit, as a reflex of a youth without boundaries for the game. He places them into an atmosphere where the struggle for power, sex and money are fully exposed. When he does not use models to portray, he picks the most impressive faces from websites of amateur porn or gay chats in Czechoslovakia, to recreate the face he has in mind. In this opportunity we have the privilege of presenting one of his artworks, inspired in one of our own pictures of the model Luciano Rivarola, specially created for DOOPLER magazine.

How would you describe your style? -I think there are many art critics that are paid for it J, I like more painting. My style is still developing. I have never tried to identify my style. When I create paintings and when I have a feeling I achieved my goal or it goes very smoothly I immediatelly invent something new. It is very similar with men in my caseJ In each case there are people who find my paintings very rough dirty and unfinished etc, but lot of people like just this kind of painting. Do you have an education in what you’re doing? Are you an autodidact? - I attend the 4th year of Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Secondarry schol was dedicated to arts, in particular, sculptures (stone). Can you live on what you’re doing? - Frankly speaking, I rely more on „pocket money“ from parents. What I earn from paintings I try to save for flight tickets, colours, canvas – my major expenditures (if I exclude Saturday nightsJ). I have to admit I was very suprised, I did not expect to be paid for my work so early! Do you work with other artists? - I am convinced that you need to be alone when painting at least mentally. I share the studio with 5 other people – I do love it but i tis very hard to concentrate. In the past we used to paint with 2 classmates joint pictures – very interesting experience and funny but the result remained questionableJ With whom would you like to work someday? - Hmmm I would love to wokr with institutions, Moma or Larri Gaggosian haha. If my tutor Ivan Csudai had asked me to cooperate with him, I would have been honoured (I hope he will read this articleJ) I hope I will be introduced to Terence Koh someday despithe the fact he has been using bunny – they should be introduced as well. What did it take to get where you are now? - Clear goal, hard work, excellent people I have met so far and hard work. What makes you feel happy? - My dog - pug! and a lot of other things making all the boys happy ... (sex, new sneakers etc ) What are your future plans? - In march, my pictures will be part of an exhibition in NYC and later on in Berlin. I feel really excited and at the same time anxious.! I plan longer holiday this summer. I´d like to go hiking in beautiful Slovak montains with boys – we will get drunk at campfire and later being wild in our tents !

Iwajla Klinke Iwajla Klinke studied Political Science, Islamic Study and Jewish Study at the Free University of Berlin. For several years now he has been a filmmaker and photographer in the capital of Germany. In this ÂťRitual MemoriesÂŤ he develops with his dark intensity, his fascination for the sacrum and its narration, from the ornaments and costumes. He does so from a universe that gives back to life worms, birds and mice; all mixed with the simple daily elements glued on young naked bodies. This pictures of classical poses, lead us to contradictory spaces between beauty and repulsion.

Whether it’s less than a millisecond away or a billion years, its arrival is considered inevitable due to the existence of time and the laws of physics.
