The Spring/Summer term 2015 shows the school’s artistic offerings. Boys continue with their preparations for Trinity Board examinations and the choir and orchestra is a key feature in the school’s annual Prize Giving ceremony, held in The Rose Bowl in March. Many boys will continue to develop their interest and ability in the arts at universities in India and abroad. The Doon School is delighted to have given them an opportunity to have such an enriched life, for the rest of their adult lives. The school welcomes the new boys who will join in D and C form and looks forward to assessing their artistic talents and developing their abilities. The calendar is a snap shot of the arts@doon and aims to inspire and inform current and prospective parents, as well as past pupils and friends of the school. Whether it is art, drama, photography or music, this term’s calendar offers something for all.

Design & Technology Glass Flame Workshop Selected boys 20th-22nd February 2015hool
Lampworking or Glass Flame is a type of glasswork where a torch or lamp is primarily used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps. Although lack of a precise definition for lampworking makes it difficult to determine when this technique was first developed, the earliest verifiable lampworked glass is probably a collection of beads thought to date to the fifth century BC. Lampworking became widely practiced in Murano, Italy in the 14th century. In the mid 19th century lampwork technique was extended to the production of paperweights, primarily in France, where it became a popular art form, still collected today. Lampworking differs from glassblowing in that glassblowing uses a furnace as the primary heat source, although torches are also used. Source: Wikipedia
