OUR STORY: TO US, IT’S PERSONAL. Jennifer Moyer opened the doors of Home Instead Senior Care (HISC) in June, 2004 with her parents, Frank and JoAnn Speicher. She and her family know firsthand the challenges faced when seeking inhome care for a loved one. It was Jennifer’s own experience in finding care for her grandmother that led her to Home Instead Senior Care®. “My grandmother needed a CAREGiver and it was only after learning of and seeing how well Home Instead Senior Care’s program of care worked with my family that we wanted to give that same opportunity to Berks County families faced with the same situation,” said Jennifer. “My grandmother, like countless others in the same situation, had an improved quality of life because she was able to be in her own home. It made a difference to her and our family.” Today, Home Instead Senior Care-Berks County provides in-home, non-medical care throughout Berks County. Jennifer manages an administrative staff of six and oversees about 100 active CAREGivers. Home Instead is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and all CAREGiving staff are fully bonded and insured by the agency. Each CAREGiver must complete an extensive application process that includes a criminal background and motor vehicle check and drug test. All CAREGivers under our employ receive training administered by a licensed RN and are required to attend quarterly in-service training to maintain employment. The services provided by Home Instead include: personal care, home helper services, dementia care, incidental transportation, respite care, end of life support, and medication reminders. Home Instead works in partnership with our Clients and their representatives to find the best plan of care available that is client-based and relationship-driven. Unlike some homecare agencies, we have a full-time Client Care Coordinator who serves as a liaison between clients and CAREGivers for any questions, concerns or scheduling concerns. We also provide 24/7 access if needed. Through our corporate office, Home Instead has taken a leadership position in the development of educational programs committed to the advancement of senior care. Among these are the CARE (Changing Aging Through Research and Education) Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias Training Program, Senior Fraud Protection Kit, The 50-50 and 40-70 Rule and Stages of Senior Care. These programs have been developed with and supported by the American Society on Aging, physicians, social workers, authors and the National Association of Triads. “I’m very proud of the role my staff and I have in the lives of our clients and their families,” says Jennifer. “We’ve had the honor to be there in times of joy and sadness. Our CAREGivers have been instrumental in some wonderfully, life changing stories. I believe we are committed to a quality of care that is unmatched. For us, it’s personal and truly rewarding.” CALL TODAY
