Mortgage Moment FHA improvements: As promised, the FHA announced on January 9th that they are reducing their monthly MIP (Mortgage Insurance Premium) by .25 basis points on conforming loan amounts effective on all closings after 1/27/17. In real terms on a $400,000 loan the monthly MIP will go From $266/mo down to $183/mo. FHA is pushing to remain competitive in the low down payment first time home buyer market and this new MIP reduction will certainly help their cause.
