NEW YORK CLASSICAL PLAYERS The New York Classical Players is a professional performing group of highly-gifted young instrumentalists from different cultures committed to bringing free classical repertoire concerts to the public. Bringing together musicians from various nationalities, NYCP combines personal and cultural strengths and high level of chamber musicianship based upon democratic principles to the process of creating music. Trained from many of the world’s best-known music schools, members of the NYCP are top prize winners from major international competitions. Musicians have made debuts at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and have been involved with illustrious projects such as Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project and are recipients of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. Envisioned by Dongmin Kim in 2009, NYCP has been presenting free concerts in different venues around the New York metropolitan area. Repertoire includes pieces spanning from Bach to composers of our time. Guest artists include one of the most loved performing artists violist Kim Kashkashian, soprano Sumi Jo, violinis Cho-Liang Lin, Chee-Yun, Stefan Jackiw and Josef Spacek, Cellist Mark Kosower and DaXun Zhang, to name a few. In addition, the NYCP is highly committed to creating new repertoire to convey a different dimension of interest to the public by presenting pieces by young outstanding composers of today, including, Vivian Fung, Clint Needham, Alexandra du Bois, and Yoomi Paick. As one of today’s most exciting young performing arts organizations, the NYCP takes on the responsibility of being an emerging cultural source by connecting people with a broader world of musical art and culture. 4


ENGAGEMENT WITH COMMUNITY – AN EMERGING CULTURAL SOURCE Whether it’s the large African American population in the Bronx, or reaching the Asian community in Northern New Jersey, NYCP has planted musical seeds in every community; enriching individuals of all ages and backgrounds through the power of music. In some occasions, a free NYCP concert is the only opportunity all year in which community members are given a chance to experience high quality classical music. Many have reached out to us after concerts in complete disbelief that an ensemble as talented as ours would be performing for communities throughout NY and NJ with no charge.

INNOVATIVE VISION - FREE CONCERTS From the tip of Long Island to the top of the Bronx, the New York Classical Players brings inspiring classical music to neighborhoods in every borough of NY and in NJ for FREE of charge. NYCP has been committed to bringing music out into the communities. In the past three seasons, NYCP has performed nearly 40 concerts and served around 30,000 people in various occasions.

One of the most exciting and versatile young conductors of today. Conducted the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center and the Seoul Arts Center Festival Orchestra. At the podium with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, among others. Former Conducting Staff as the Schmidt Conducting Fellow at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Awarded the Herbert von Karajan Fellowship and served a residency with the Wien Philharmonic Orchestra at the Salzburg Music Festival. Studied and worked with Kurt Masur, Lorin Maazel, Leonard Slatkin, and Mstislav Rostropovich. Led various contemporary ensembles in performances and recording of new compositions. A graduate of Yonsei University, and dual-studies in Orchestral Conducting and Viola at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University
