19 February 2017
Thanks for coming along to church today. At St Andrew’s, we want to welcome everyone; Christian believers, those seeking faith, skeptics, all who are looking for a spiritual home in Hong Kong. At each Sunday service we seek to learn more about the truths of God from the Bible, and encourage one another in our faith in Jesus. If you’re new, come along to the red welcome table in the north entrance foyer after the service. We’d love to be able to meet you, welcome you personally, and answer any of your questions.
BAPTISM TESTIMONY Maggie’s Story about God, Baptism and St Andrew’s. My first encounter with St Andrew’s Church was when I was eight, participating in the bible reading session at the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival. Without knowing it back then, the visit sowed a seed in my heart. God has a plan for me. He has been patiently waiting for this soil to fertile. Throughout these many years, God has never ceased to exhibit his grace by exposing me to Him. He provided me with the chance to attend a Sheng Kung Hui school since young. He surrounded me with loving and supportive friends who demonstrate solid Christian values. Like many, I didn’t appreciate enough for what I had until one day I lost my friend in the blink of an eye – a friend who has been showing us how she lived her short but abundant life in a Godly manner daily for the past decade. Her departure served as a painful reminder that it is time to “go home”, to live a life closer to God. Starting with the intention to seek inner peace and to explain death to my threeyear-old son, we came back to St Andrew’s weekly. Yet God has given me much more than I deserve. He refreshes my memory on what I had been taught since young. He opens up my heart for receiving and understanding the Gospel. Yes, He has chosen me, loves me, and accepted me through what Christ has done. Thus I come to the decision to love Him and serve Him for the rest of my life. In Matthew 5:16 it says: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” I truly hope those who are here today, who witness this life changing moment of ours, can feel the same way and follow Him. God Bless, Maggie Cheung-Man 9:30am Service member and baptism candidate (along with her son) St Andrew’s holds baptisms on the 3rd Sundays of February, May and October. If you are investigating baptism, please speak to the clergy.

Bible Reading HEBREWS 10:19-25 19
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
