SENIOR CHRISTINE LUX

NOTEBOOK • Notre Dame returns 13 letterwinners from a 2009 squad that finished 43-17 overall (19-4 BIG EAST) and captured the BIG EAST Championship title. • Senior all-American Christine Lux will carry a bulk of the offensive load for the Irish in 2010. Lux has hit a school-record 15 home runs in each of the last two seasons while driving in 51 runs last year, which ranks third on the program’s single-season list. • Katie Fleury, Brianna Jorgensborg, Erin Marrone, Dani Miller, Jody Valdivia and Lux are returning starters who have earned at least one all-BIG EAST citation each throughout their careers. • Valdivia was the only BIG EAST pitcher without a loss through the 2009 league slate. • The Irish have claimed four BIG EAST Tournament titles and eight trips to the NCAA Tournament under head coach Deanna Gumpf, who enters her ninth season at the helm of the program with a record of 332-153-1 (.684) for the highest winning percentage of any team.
