The Pretend Place
Week 5, 29 August 2013 It’s the last week for sending in du-athlon funds. Thanks to all families who have already sent their money to school. We’re very much looking forward to giving out the prizes at our assembly on Friday 06 September. You may have noticed we are replacing an area of concrete outside the school hall. This concrete had been damaged earlier in the year, and it’ll all be finished as soon as the weather allows. Please encourage your children to wear their rain coats to school, and if possible a spare pair of pants for children who like to play on the field! Also PLEASE DO COME to the maths evening on Wednesday. The staff has prepared all sorts of fun things as well as some rather interesting information about the teaching of maths. Oh yes..maths has changed since we were at school (actually I still am at school!!).

THE HOME ZONE Ways to support your child with their homework: PART 1: Try playing "Beat the Clock" with your child during homework time. Look over the assignment and figure out about how long it should take to complete it. Allow a little extra time and set a timer for that many minutes. No prizes are needed. There is great satisfaction in getting the work done on time. Have a regular place for your child to do homework. Use a desk or table in a quiet room. Be sure there’s plenty of light.
