Dollschino Magazine was founded in November 2020, and is motivated with a passion to do something positive for the Entertainment, Hair & Beauty, Small to Medium sized Businesses and the Music & Film Industry. We are doing things differently in the world of Magazines, and when you are featured, you really are featured, and the best part is that you do not have to be famous to appear on our front cover. Covid-19 has changed the face of Live Music, the Entertainment Industry, the Sports Industry and so many other live events, and has caused a slump in sales for businesses, causing many to close down, but with the power of the internet and social media, we aim to provide a platform in which sadness can be turned to, Excitement, Joy and Hope into the lives of those that appear in our Magazine. Included within the content, every 3 months, we like to select and offer one or two independent businesses the opportunity to share their business information, photo's and promotional details as an article in our Magazines, this will be non chargeable to those selected. Each business can gain extra promotion, as well as increased online social media presence and exposure to the public, which may then possibly help lead to additional sales, networking or collaboration opportunities. We are selling our Magazine at an affordable price, and with each Magazine purchased, you become part of the mission to put a smile on somebody's face, and who knows, the next person in our magazine could be you!!!

MAIZIE WILLIAMS 1975 'BONEY M' MEMBER One of the biggest groups to stand out in the 70s and 80s fanatical disco-era and truly make their mark, was 'BONEY M'. Their career was comet-like in that they seemed to blast out of nowhere. Their sound - a mix of reggae, disco, funk, gospel, soul and rock - hit the charts around the world in a flash. Within moments, it seemed, everyone knew the Boney M name and their sensational array of musical hits. The overnight success which went on to manifest itself with over 40 hit singles, at least 30 albums (many more if we include the regional variations and ongoing compilations), up to 250 million units sold, plus numerous live tours and tv appearances spanning four decades. From the day Maizie Williams, a classic high-cheekboned, long-legged, fashion model and dancer, was discovered in 1975 by impresario Katja Wolf and selected as the very first member of a brand new band.
ABOUT // MAIZIE WILLIAMS
The carousel took off and the legendary phenomenon band 'Boney M' was born.
“By The Rivers Of Babylon”
Maizie Williams is not only the longest surviving member of the original 'Boney M' band but, probably the most influential in deciding the long term line-up since it was she who vetted the subsequent members to make sure they would all share a certain chemistry.
Singer/Songwriter
The initial line-up had been without question a visual front for a record that was already a radio hit, while the follow-up combo was selected more for its broader talent and potential longevity.

Q&A: GET TO KNOW AN INTERVIEW WITH MAIZIE WILLIAMS
Q 1): What year and how did your career begin with Boney M? In the year 1975, I traveled from London, UK to Germany, to take part in a fashion show booked by my Modelling Agent at that time, as I was pursuing a Modelling career and I traveled to Germany with a friend. We loved Germany, and became very friendly with the owner of a restaurant that we used to visit on a daily basis, it was here that we were approached by a man and a lady who walked up to our table. The lady could not speak english, but said Maizie? The lady was unknown to us, so we were very curious to know how she knew my name, and why she wanted to speak to me. However, the man that was with her, started to interpret what she was saying to us, and told us that a successful music producer by the name of Frank Farian was looking for 4 black singers in order to establish a band for a music recording project, and touring live shows. After giving us some information about this music project, the lady said that if we were interested, we could meet with Frank Farian, everything sounded very interesting, and we thought, well, we had nothing to lose, so we agreed to go ahead and meet with Frank to validate everything, and then decide from there.

MEET THE FOUNDER O THE 'DAFTA F S'
20
Tamara Orlova-Alvarez is the founder of new London-based annual film awards – DAFTAS. The history behind the award is one of overcoming grief and coming to terms with loss. The “DAFTAS” was Tamara’s attempt to hold on to her partner’s memory, but it became so much more than that. It became a place for creative and entrepreneurial filmmakers to meet and grow through overcoming challenges; a melting pot of ideas, and a source of positive emotions for so many. She believes that this venture, would make her partner very proud. Her partner was none other than celebrity, media photographer and publisher The late ‘Joe Alvarez’
Tamara founded her new film awards The 'DAFTAS' in January 2020, in memory of Joe Alverez, who sadly passed away on 15th October 2019 after an 18 months battle with cancer. The DAFTAS celebrates the best spoof of BAFTA-nominated films, and, according to the founder, is the best way to embody Joe’s love for the film industry, and his unmistakable sense of humour. With only just under one month to come up with the rules, secure sponsorships and enroll filmmakers, Tamara admits the task wasn’t an easy one, but it helped her to deal with her bereavement.
The Journey of Loss “After Joe’s diagnosis, different things became a priority.” Tamara Orlova-Alvarez commented: “Joe had such an amazing sense of humour and he always provided the best commentary for glitzy redcarpet premieres and awards. The readers of his showbiz column in ‘Hot Gossip Magazine’ and viewers of BBC TV Series ‘Paparazzi’ would know his wit was uncapped. I always felt that his unique wit had to find an outlet. Before Joe was diagnosed with cancer, we were toying with the idea of setting up a parody awards ceremony".
21
Joe even came up with the title ‘DAFTAS’ - as a parody of BAFTA awards. I drafted a rough idea and the timeline in my notepad, but it wasn’t meant to be.” Tamara continues: “After Joe’s diagnosis, different things became a priority. We were just focused on living, and completing the projects we had already started” up until Joe sadly passed away. “It clicked; all of a sudden it all made sense.” The idea of the DAFTAS awards, as we know it now, crystallised in Tamara’s mind in early December. As part of coming to terms with her loss, she decided to pay a visit to Joe’s dad in Tenerife. She went for a moment of solitude to Las Teresitas beach – she used to love going there with Joe. With her notepad, while watching the sunset and thinking of the amazing time they had spent on that beach over the past few years, Tamara was trying to reclaim herself, planning what she could do next, and how she could continue with Joe’s legacy in the best possible way. As if by magic, a gust of wind blew one page out of her notebook. This page read DAFTAS in all capitals. She felt an instant connection with this project. Racing Against Time She overcame her fear of failure and fear of success Tamara admits she felt an urge to establish DAFTAS as soon as possible. “Waiting until 2021 was not an option". By the time she overcame her fear of failure and fear of success, she had less than two months left until BAFTA 2020 awards. It was decided that DAFTAS should take place a few days before BAFTA to keep the momentum and intrigue. In a given timeframe, she had to enroll filmmakers, secure reputable judges, find sponsors, the host and a screening room. She knew that time was of the essence.” Tamara’s grief and desire to hold on to her late partner’s memory admittedly, was the main catalyst. “She remembers over the Christmas break, friends would invite her over as they wanted to look after her. She would turn up for drinks and restaurant dinners with the same tattered notepad. She was possessed by this project and it indeed carried her through the Christmas period.” When it comes to obstacles, there were many, admits Tamara. She knows It’s a cliché, but there were some individuals who, out of the best intentions, advised to delay DAFTAS by one year. I believe that when someone says something can’t be done, it’s more of a reflection of their resourcefulness not yours. "I knew that if anyone could make it happen, it was me.”
22
“I believe that when someone says something can’t be done, it’s more of a reflection of their resourcefulness not yours.” She continues: “I’ve heard it all: “no one will take you seriously”, “you can’t find sponsors in such short notice”, “how are you going to find filmmakers to take part over the Christmas break?” she had only one answer: “It’s happening, and she had her reasons. Cynical as it sounds, she kept repeating that in one years time the world would have moved on and no one would care about her reasons, about Joe’s legacy. Tamara says: "Looking now at the state of the economy, and the filmmaking industry in particular, if she had not started then, she doesn't think launching DAFTAS would have been on her priority list. She is so happy that she started DAFTAS when she did." The DAFTAS was her attempt to hold on to Joe’s memory but it became so much more than that. It became a place for creative and entrepreneurial filmmakers to meet and grow through challenge; a melting pot of ideas, a mentorship program, and a source of positive emotions for so many. As DAFTAS is aligned with the BAFTA timeline, the teams will get on with their spoof 9th of March – the day of the BAFTA nominations’ announcement. The next DAFTAS awards will take place on the 29th of May 2021 – this is to allow filmmakers enough time to produce quality work without breaking the government restrictions. DAFTAS WEBSITE
