HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The theater has gone through several incarnations as well as several locations. It is the longest running community theater in El Paso with 52 years to date. The original financing for the procurement of the property and building at 2501 Montana was accomplished through the generosity of Mr. William Kastrin who along with his two daughters, Veronica Kastrin and Linda Abraham and Mr. Ken Letner of San Francisco, first conceived the idea of the Festival Theatre, the El Paso Playhouse’s original name at this location. In the 48 years of the Playhouse’s existence, it has seen many changes - from paint colors, to genre of plays performed on stage, to the numerous actors and patrons who have passed through its doors. Through it all, we have remained strong and everlasting.

“I regard the theater as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” Oscar Wilde

DIRECTOR’S NOTE This is my favorite time of the year. I’m that person who is listening to Christmas music on November 1. I love the decorations, the outside lights in and around the city, the festivities, the music. But most of all, it’s the new memories created and reminincing on the those past, the happiness of simply just being surrounded by those you love. It’s not about the presents but about the presence. When we decided on producing this production, we knew it would be something special, but it wasn’t until we started working on it did we realize just how special. Everyone in their own way stepped in to help in every aspect of the production. I will be forever grateful. I hope you all enjoy watching the show as much as we enjoyed breathing it to life.

On behalf of the board of directors I wish you the best this holiday season. -Veronica Frescas Director

He fell in love with the Borderland community, and has since been here since 2008. He has worked on a variety of shows over the past few years, but is still relatively new to the scene. This is first ever leading role and is excited for his future as an actor, and is grateful for the experience gained as part of this production. Joaquin porras (Ralphie) is debuting at the Playhouse. This summer he attended IMTA to hopefully make a name for himself. In the summer of 2016 he performed in Carnegie Hall with the El Paso Youth Symphony Orchestra performing the music of John Williams.
