Pork Back Ribs: Barbecued To Perfection

Really, can you have one without the other? When I spent 10 days in Ft. Worth recently, hitting up a couple BBQ joints was a question of when, not if. I was surprised to see that the restaurants were open. However, there was one restaurant that my sister wanted to try called Sha Sha's. We all got slow cooker slow cooker pulled pork shoulder sandwiches and fries there, but they did have a note on the menu saying that $1.00 would be added to the price of any shrimp or crab dish. This was because the seafood cost was rising and they could no longer afford the food while keeping the price lower. Choosing between their brisket and ribs is tough -- neither option is wrong, but whichever one you choose, you always feel like you're missing out on the other one. But, although I could have gotten the combo plate, I was really feeling ribs, so ribs it was. The sandwich slow cooker pulled pork was so big it definitely needed two hands! The sauce was tangy and flavorful. The rest of the meal didn't measure up. The french fries and coleslaw were both run-of-the-mill. As a working Mom sometimes I do not arrive home from work until 6:30. On those nights I will either throw a meal in the slow cooker before I leave for work or leave directions for the babysitter to put the casserole or meatloaf in the oven at 5:00. Then when my husband arrives home at 6:00, dinner is hot, ready and the house smells delicious. My sampler included the recently released Cherry Zoltar, Red Molly, Hoptopus and of course since it was Firkin Friday, the ZIPA. Let me start right there. Barley's website states that they have brewed over a dozen IPAs. That is evident as ZIPA is a refreshing IPA that welcomes summer in a glass. If you're looking for a hop-tastic craft beer, this is your huckleberry. Brewed with honey, the citrus aspect of this craft beer really hits your nose before the first sip, after which the hops come rushing back how long to cook beef in slow cooker linger pleasantly on your palate.
