From the editor Well hello! So much has changed since I wrote my last editor’s note! Firstly we’ve changed our name from Doily Days to Margot’s Wedding. The reason behind the name change was because lots of people seemed to think we were a vintage wedding magazine. That is where it all started way back in 2009 but we’ve evolved so much since then that our name didn’t suit us anymore. We’re all about cool, creative ideas; couples doing things their way. Edgy, alternative, urban… it’s so hard to put a label on it. Basically if I like it, I like it! Margot is a fictional character in my head. She’s cool, creative, stylish, a bit of a hipster and she’s living her life to her own set of rules. It gives me a starting point when looking at suppliers, features and front covers. I ask myself: “Is this Margot?”. I had my first child in 2015. I was convinced I was having a girl and, you guessed it, she was going to be called Margot… but Rupert turned up instead! My business has always been my baby so it’s fitting that Margot has slotted into my life. Our website now reflects the new look and feel and fresh blog content is added three times a week. We also have a brand new supplier directory so go and check it out!

As always I’ve loved putting this issue together. The two real weddings I’ve chosen really reflect our ethos. Tash and Fran are fun-loving brides who have tailored their nuptials and celebrations to fit their personalities. I had the best time in Margate at the end of last year, checking it out as a hen party destination. I think if Margot was a place she’d definitely be Margate, don’t you? Oh and Margot would most definitely go for a glasshouse wedding as featured on pages 46-47. Dining amongst flowers and plants at antique tables… er, yes please! I’m thinking strings of festoon lighting = dreamy. The styled shoot featured on pages 22-25 was curated by myself and Alex from The Vintage Parade. It was so much fun and I’m looking forward to working on two styled shoots this year. Make sure you check out issue 12 in September to see what we’ve been up to. Enjoy the issue! And as always, I love to receive feedback.
