A Pavlovian coffee-lover’s guide to the best cafés in Stockholm.

Sophies Canelé Sankt Eriksgatan 81, 11332 Stockholm Sophies Canelé’s decor style is very chic with a mix of yellow, white and teal. The floors are a unique yellow hexagonal style while the walls are a mix of white and tile that creates an airy feel. Above the pastries hang exposed lights along with small Parisian trinkets that mirror the cafe’s French style. There are plenty of tables for people along with a long sofa crowded with pillows for a homey atmosphere. Stepping into this cafe is like stepping into a different world, the majority of people are

coffee shop crowded with locals and their strollers, businessmen furiously typing on their computers and friends meeting up for coffee. I am a selfconfessed coffee addict and one of the many reasons why I love Kaffeverket is their great coffee (and free wifi) due to its strong, balanced and full flavour. However, it’s a little bitter for my taste. The cafe is only a three-minute walk from the Sankt Eriksplan tube station. All in all, it is a lovely spot with good coffee, a great vibe and friendly service.

I can't say enough good things about Sophie's Canelé, this coffee shop is just a classic that will never go out of fashion due to its originality and French inspiration. !2

Other must-visit cafés;

Pom & Flora Bondegatan 64, 11629 Stockholm Pom & Flora is quite a small cafe (especially when it’s busy, around 12.00-14.00) with delicious food and Instagram famous-looking people in a lovely and trendy atmosphere and location. The floor is a white and burnt red tile, the walls are a mix of tile and blueish grey feature walls. The people found at Pom & Flora are exclusively trendy and stylish with MacBooks and cappuccinos or local hipsters meeting for lattes and acai bowls. Both the food and desserts are wonderful, aesthetically appealing and healthy, and the coffee isn’t any different, it is strong yet not at all bitter or acidic. I only wish that they offered a larger size of latte. This cafe isn’t too far from our school, only about a 12minute walk from Skanstull ,so if you have a long study

period you should head off and grab a coffee there. All in all, Pom & Flora is a great cafe for any Instagrammers who are looking for a good brunch place, thanks to their decor atmosphere, food and location. I highly recommend it! Sofia Tornesel SPA2D

Ingredients:

2 dl whipping cream 2 dl golden syrup 2 dl granulated sugar 1 dl chopped almonds 2 tbsp breadcrumbs 2 tbsp butter Paper toffee moulds

Method:

Mix cream, syrup and sugar in a saucepan and bring it to a boil without a lid. Stir occasionally and leave it on the heat for 15 to 30 minutes. You’ll know the toffee is done when it succeeds “kulprovet”. Do this by pouring a little of the mixture into a cold glass of water, let it sit for about a minute then try to roll the toffee into a ball. If the toffee is firm and mouldable, take it off the heat. Add the almonds, breadcrumbs and butter and stir. Divide the mixture between the toffee moulds and let them solidify.
