Words from Braun I would like to introduce myself. My name is BraunShea. I am happy to introduce to you, True You. I want to bring you into the life of my own teen mind. I am hoping that some of my insight will bring something into the readers life, that could be helpful. I am still a teen at heart and look back on my life and see all the things I could have done differently.

It is my goal to help and bring advice to others. I do take questions and suggestions, and would gratuitously and gratefully answer anything that is needed. I get a great joy from helping others. So please sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself. And please let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see. Thank you for your time and attention.

his is a very serious problem, that has been going on for years. How many of us remember either being bullied or remember their childhood bully? When I was growing up it was a little easier because everything wasn’t so difficult back then. 1520 years ago you were allowed to stick up for yourself and was able to defend yourself. Where as now a days, you are not able to without fear of getting into trouble yourself. Kids these days are told to get an adult or tell some kind of authority, but the bullies have put so much fear in our kids these days, that most won’t and the bullying continues behind the scenes. And now, it’s not just bullying on the streets or in the school yards. We now have to worry about the online bullying also. We hear all the ads and reports on t.v. and the Internet and pamphlets from the schools, on ways to help stop bullying, but is any of it really helping? On Sept. 19, news broke of yet another adolescent suicide related to bullying. The boy, Jamey Rodemeyer, was 14 years old and identified alternately as gay or bisexual. He had withstood years of bully-

ing, especially online. But early as May, he had posted a video speaking about the bullying as if it was done and over for the project It Gets Better. But all of it was not enough to stop Rodemeyer from

Studies show that kids who are involved in bullying — bullies, victims and a third subgroup of particularly problematic kids who engage in both behaviors and are referred to as bully-victims — are

losing his life. Why? A growing number of education psychologists and childhood-development specialists are beginning to ask whether our approach to anti-bullying education is predicated on a fundamental misunderstanding of the research. They suggest that the underlying motivations for bullying are a great deal more complicated than what’s addressed in anti-bullying policy: What if bullying is not a cause of poor mental health but is a warning sign that it already exists?

more likely to have started out with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues that predispose them to lashing out and to self-harm. So this brings me to the question, What are we doing wrong? Or is it what are we not seeing? Through out the years a lot of people say, well it has to do with their home raising. What if it goes deeper then that? What if there is an under-laying cause that we haven’t caught on to before now?

I-Dosing

I-Dosing What is it? There is a new high in the technology age. Seems that beats can get you high more than marijuana. What is the deal with I-Dosing and is it dangerous?

-Doser is an application for the playback of proprietary audio content. The developer claims the separately purchasable content aims to simulate specific mental states through the use of binaural beats, and much of it is named after prohibited recreational drugs. The I-Doser player has been downloaded more than a million times and is based on the audio technology of a GPLlicensed binaural beat generator, What you should be looking for in SBaGen. For the PC and MAC Player, the IDoser tracks are usually 30-40 minutes long and administered with a program called I-Doser V5. The file format containing the encoded sounds ends in .drg which only the I-Doser program can run. Most doses are priced in the US $1.99-$3.99 with a small handful of premium experimental doses costing hundreds of dollars. Although some experts do not believe that these tracks really later the brain and some feel that this is not a real danger, the problem is that kids who are exploring these areas of digital drugs may start exploring other types of drugs, such as marijuana, meth, or cocaine. At this point it is not really proven whether these tracks can truly make you high, but you need to look beyond that to the thinking behind your child using these tracks in the first place. The biggest concern here is that experimenting with digital drugs will lead to experimentation with other drugs in the future. In fact, these concerns have the Bureau of Narcotics in Oklahoma putting out warnings to parents about i-dosing and the affects that it can have on kids.

Does this remind you of that Stephen King story “Lawnmower Man”? Job too became addicted to the net and all the “knowledge”. It’s really scary how life is now imitating art.

tem through the eye. However, the practice can cause devastating long-term damage to eyesight and is a major worry to university authorities.

What is it?

Video sharing network YouTube features more than 800 clips of people pouring vodka into their eyes and there are host of Facebook groups supporting the phenomenon.

know that when I was a teenager, I couldn’t wait to go to parties and live it up with the cool kids at school. Thankfully, I wasn’t popular enough to be invited. But how cool are the cool kids in school?

Vodka eyeballing is when you place the bottle of Vodka to your eye and start pouring in the liquor. It is thought that you can ingest the liquor this way.

What harm can it do? This strips away the protective membrane covering the eye causing it to sting. Vodka eyeballing is popular with students. Those who do it claim that it makes them drunk at break-neck speeds and provides an instant high. But experts have pointed out that this is unlikely as only a small amount of alcohol can get into the sys-

eer pressure is a horrible thing to deal with in school. I remember when I was going to school it wasn’t cool to be a virgin. At the end of the day, I was the only one that didn’t give in to peer pressure. A fact that my classmates liked to remind me of up until graduation. So why not buckle to peer pressure?

respected you, they wouldn’t ask you to do anything dangerous or put you down for you saying you won’t do it. As my mother always told me, “Birds of a feather flock together.” Of course the old saying is also “If it sounds too good it probably is.” So hanging out with the cool kids is probably not all that cracked up as it is made out to be.

I was a graduate of the class of 1999. I remember peer pressure. I remember the cool kids. How do we say no? The best way to say no is to just say the word No. No means No either way you put it. You need to remember that no matter what the situation is; whether a party or just some random blight, that you are the only one that respects yourself in the group. If others

Dahvie Vanity “’Rise and Shine’ comes from a really dark period, back in 7th grade, when I used to get bullied and picked on because I was different. I wasn’t like every other kid out there, because of the music I listened to,” says Vanity. “Growing up, I was picked on, punched, abused, and I finally said, ‘I’m gonna stand up for what I believe in. I’m taking back what is mine.’ God gave you a right to protect yourself, embrace your dreams, defend your honor and not be taken advantage of.”

Bullying is a huge thing even in today’s schools.

Most people think that even the rich, famous, or popular people didn’t go through hardships in school. But what BOTDF states is that they are against bullying because they were bullied and they’ve had ENOUGH.

Jay Von Monroe: In middle school was bullied because of the way he looked. Didn’t go to high school because of the bullying. The town that he lived in for eighth grade didn’t accept him so he was homeschooled. He then returned to school and was in a classroom by himself with one teacher and could not go anywhere in the school without a police escort.

Fashion

DO work bright colors into the equation. Yellows and oranges lend a girly touch to the athletic style.

DON’T go overboard with the trend, though. You’ll risk looking like you’re actually about to go play ball.

A look for any occassion is essential. If you do too much of the same look even with accessories, it can over power what you are trying to do. Make sure to mix and match a little. It can look classy.

DON’T Easy-breezy and relaxed, these slouchy silhouettes took shape in the form of large T-shirts and loose pants. DO tread lightly. For most of us, one slouchy piece will do the trick. DON’T forget the golden rule: Slouchy up top, skinny on bottom, and vice versa.

Remember sagging of the pants was so 90’s and not in anymore. So if you are doing saggy, do it with style.
