OPENING FILM DOCFEED OPENS HER SEVENTH EDITION WITH RK VEULPOEPERS BV, THE NEWEST DOCUMENTARY FROM DIRECTORS FRANK VAN OSCH AND JORIS HENDRIX. WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO PREMIERE THIS REGIONAL GEM FROM NORTH BRABANT, SINCE IT’S PRODUCED BY THE DEN BOSCH BASED PRODUCTION COMPANY VAN OSCH FILMS, AND IS ABOUT THE BAND THE VEULPOEPERS THAT WAS FORMED IN HILVARENBEEK BACK IN THE 1970S. THE FILM IS SCHEDULED ON THE SATURDAY IN OUR REGULAR PROGRAMME, SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO MISS IT.

RK VEULPOEPERS BV SHIT HAPPENS!

‘’The Veulpoepers’’ literally means: shit-a-lot. Or in Flemmish: fuck-a-lot. This Dutch band started back in the 1970s, an engaged, joyful folkband with leftwinged ideals. They’re world-famous in Brabant, playing at every village party and every demonstration. Their biggest hit is D’n Egelantier. Around the band a movement formed, bringing their socialistic ideals into practice by founding small businesses, communes and even a concert venue known today as 013. When in 1996 a reunion of the band leads to a big argument, the curtain permanently falls for this colourful group. RK Veulpoepers BV is about the upcoming, unprecedented success and downfall of one of the most defiant and sensational bands ever known to Brabant. It’s about growing up and the ending of close friendships due to growing contradictions and self-preservation. The musicians look back in time at their glory days and their bitter downfall. 7

AFTER THE MURDER OF ALBERT LIMA

After the murder of Albert Lima is the story of a young American man whose father was murdered in Honduras, and his 13 year struggle to bring the killer to justice. After years of lobbying at the U.S. government and going through the proper legal channels in Honduras, he believes his only way to get justice is to do it himself. Externally, this action-thriller follows a man who has hired two private investigators to fly to Honduras with him to take down a known killer and possible drug dealer - and the consequences of that decision. Internally, this is the story of a man who struggles to define justice in this world.

COLD BUFFET Ruhama and Geva are two Kibbutzim located in different parts of Israel, with values and lifestyles that were once based on the same ideas of a classless society, collective education and shared property. Both of their dining halls, the architectural, social and symbolic heart of a Kibbutz, were designed by former students of the Bauhaus in Germany. While being in different stages of privatization one dining hall is still in use, whereas the other one has been abandoned. SONGS OF OUR SOIL

‘Uyyala’ songs are an agricultural tradition rooted in the political expression of women in Telangana. Through these oral traditions, Songs of our soil traces the histories of their resistance and memories of disillusionment. By looking at women’s participation in major political movements, from the Telangana People’s Movement to the demands of justice from the contemporary Mallana Sagar irrigation project, this film explores the relationship between memory, history, oral traditions and cultural production.

Zoë Sluijs

Zoë Sluijs is currently working on a photo book in which she challenges the arrogance that some people seem to have regarding their understanding of the world. Because, let’s be honest, no one really understands it and we probably never will. Zoë aims to expand the restrictive way of thinking that we all seem to accept. The photographs shown during the exhibition will tell the story of someone who loses their understanding of reality. But in her dazed state of mind she manages to find the one thing that might bring her closer to reality than she has ever been. Her doubts.

Meanwhile, their daughters live in their own world of experience: they struggle with boredom, teenage problems, friends and love.
