Safari Park Idea Registration

We devised the Safari Park concept that revolutionized the exhibition of captive animals allowing them freedom of space in a natural environment whilst giving access to many thousands of visitors in the comfort of their own cars. This ensures a day of entertainment for visitors. We register safari park concept (copy right reservation) in Egypt 1993 in ministry of justice, ministry of investment, ministry of exterior affairs, embassy of Kuwait & national library of Kuwait. he Chipperfields have been associated with entertainment for over three hundred years. The first recorded Chipperfields show was at the “Ice Fair“ of 1684 when the River Thames froze permitting a fair to be held. William Chipperfield exhibited a performing bear. Over the centuries Chipperfields established themselves with touring menageries and shows and have been entertaining the English public since that first fair in 1684.

47

After the second world war, Chipperfields Circus was the largest in Europe and toured with a seven thousand seat big top. Jimmy Chipperfields and his brothers led the field with this vibrant show but as television began to make in-roads into live entertainment Jimmy realised something entirely new was required to entice audiences from their armchairs.

Development Partners Team

In the late 1950’s, Jimmy broke away from the circus and during the following three decades, created new forms of entertainment that have since been spread throughout the world. He devised the Safari Park concept that revolutionised the exhibition of captive animals allowing them freedom of space in a natural environment whilst giving access to many thousands of visitors in the comfort of their own cars. The first Safari Park was opened as a joint venture with Lord Bath, “The Lions of Longleat“ in England. This was followed by a joint venture with the Duke of Bedford, at Woburn Abbey, Woburn Wild Animal Kingdom. These projects incorporated animal attractions as well as dedicated Luna Parks. The Chipperfields have since built many parks in countries around the world, including America, Canada, Europe, the Far east and the Middle East. As the Safari Park concept developed, parks were designed to have additional leisure facilities and have evolved to the extent that today, a park is built with a safari content, and includes all the traditional rides and facilities of a theme park. This ensures a day of entertainment for visitors. Jimmy Chipperfield’s son, John Chipperfield, created the Chipperfield companies Group in 1978 to further develop this family tradition. The Chipperfield Companies Group designs, builds and offers management for Luna Park developments throughout the world. Most contracts are on a turn-key basis and controlled directly by Chipperfield management. Through associated companies, the company has first hand experience of owing and operating hotels, restaurants, shops, nightclubs, water parks and most aspects of the entertainment business.

Early Seventies – I developed the use of Helicopters which were required for Mass Capture operations using the Plastic Sheeting BOMA - this also included the Drop Net method. Mechanical Capture methods were also used for certain species such as Lions, Leopard, Cheetah other nocturnal species and Primates. Using the mass capture method I was involved in the capture and translocation more than 7,000 animals annually which were distributed to the newly formed Internal Game Ranching projects.. During the period - 1975 to the mid 1980 - I was also involved with the export and stocking of various African animals to Safari Parks and registered Zoological Gardens worldwide. I was also instrumental in bringing back to South Africa the first Disease free “Cape Buffalo” from Parks and Zoos worldwide; these totalled more than 200 animals. 1984 – Operation in Spain with the capture and translocation of the Spanish Ibex and Shanwa to a new National Park.1985 - Mexico I successfully captured, 20 White Bearded Wildebeest and 12 Gravis Zebra on a ranch in Mexico after a 5 month quarantine period they were all successfully transported to a ranch in Dallas - USA. In 1986 - we mounted an operation in the Central African Republic to capture the Giant / Lord Derby Eland. After a 6-month operation, in a hostile environment and a 12-month quarantine period - the 12 captured Eland arrived safely in the United States to form part of a successful breeding program at the Los Angeles and San Diego Zoological gardens. In 1986 I bought a farm in the Broederstroom area near Hartbeespoortdam; where I built a new USDA approved quarantine station and continued with the export and import of wildlife. It was on this farm that I designed and built , Glen Afric Country Lodge (1986).

In 1988 - I was approached by an International film company to allow them to film and produce a series called Okavango using the animals and location, this was agreed, and 26 episodes were filmed over a 2 year period. This was the beginning of a highly successful movie business. The film industry flourished and to date more than 280 film productions have been filmed at Glen Afric -these include international television series, feature films, wildlife documentaries and commercials.

As a youngster she would accompany her dad bird watching and read through the copious wildlife publications on her parents’ bookshelves. As a teenager she became a young volunteer at the Johannesburg Zoo, thus keeping her happy and occupied amongst wild life in an urban zone. Her parents took the family on fun learning holidays around South and Southern Africa as often as possible and were particularly passionate about the Kruger National Park. Jess is also an Advanced diver. Together she and Pat enjoy exploring the myriads of reefs off the South African coast whenever they have a spare moment. Having worked in the South African film industry for the past 14 years, Patrick has been exposed to all forms of industry filmmaking. He began as a Production Assistant and has

gained considerable experience as he worked his way up in the industry to become a Producer, culminating is his present position as coowner and director of Wild Revolution. He is a full time Producer and Cameraman for Wild Revolution. He has worked on both local and international productions and has been a mentor to previously disadvantaged film students over the years, enabling them to grow and progress in the South African film industry. Pat has been taking photographs since he was old enough to hold a camera. He has captured on camera his love of wild, natural spaces in a stunning collection of pictures. Pat is also an Advanced diver and enjoys underwater photography as much as taking shots on terra firma! His parents maintained a private game farm in the Sabi Sands reserve since the mid 1970’s. Pat’s regular visits to the farm brought him into some extremely close encounters with some of Africa’s less hospitable wild creatures over the years. This only fuelled his passion for the great outdoors and wildlife in general – something which Pat would not have any other way. Wild Revolution is a new and innovative company created by Patrick and Jessica to encompass their combined passion for wildlife, film making and photography. Wild Revolution’s logo, a dung beetle rolling the earth, is symbolic of their down to earth outlook. Pat & Jess as Wild Revolution have been involved in a number of exciting wildlife and broadcast initiatives under their belt and have had many adventures. Live wildlife internet broadcast, DVD book accompaniments and an ongoing contract at Lapalala Wilderness Reserve are just a few of their accomplishments. They firmly believe that in order to get the big picture, it’s the little things that count! The sheer grit and determination of the dung beetle to keep the ball rolling is synonymous with the ideals of Wild Revolution. And that is to keep their film rolling with all the right stuff in order to capture and enthrall viewers around the world and make people more aware of the wonderful happenings occurring every day on our small blue planet.
