DNV GL IN A heavyweight in the global maritime industry, Germany is also a very important location for DNV GL, and a centre of excellence in terms of expertise and services.

The maritime community in Germany has for a long time sat at shipping’s top table. As owners, builders, financiers, and innovators, German companies and individuals have had a notable impact on almost every aspect of the industry. Today, the Germanowned fleet maintains its prominent position among the world’s top five shipowning countries. Many of the world’s top managing owners and shipping lines call Germany, the premier container-ship-owning nation, their home. This German maritime heritage is built into the very fabric of DNV GL, whose roots stretch back to 1867, the year Germanischer Lloyd was established in Hamburg.
