INTRO DNA BARCELONA ARCHITECTS develops projects of Architecture, Landscape and Urban Planning. We cover all variety of sizes and complex programs with a high rate of innovation. We are a multidisciplinary creative team consisting of more than 30 professionals and led by the architect: Aryanour Djalali. We’re specialized in great projects, such as Hospitals, Educational Centres, Commercial and Institutional Architecture, in which functionality, quickness, management and ability to cope with difficult tasks are our professional skills. We’re also specialized in luxury projects for important customers, in these projects we take care of bringing innovation together with the latest market and design trends in our proposals. Our team is responsible for programming, conceptualization and developments of new projects incorporating the latest research and technological solutions. The main objective is to use our solid academic knowledge and professional experience to create viable and creative solutions to satisfy the needs of our customers. In order to improve our way of working steadily, we’ve created our Technical Department, researching about new designs with the latest technology, looking for new construction systems and envelopes, through the implementation of energy efficiency and sustainability concepts. A new concept of architecture is possible with the new software solutions, in order to develop new designs and spaces, we use all kinds of tools to create and integrate a multidisciplinary process, the BIM manager tools, the 3d, and video representations are only examples. Our main workflow consists in: - Develop new projects from preliminary phases to executive & built projects. - Project Management (assistance and technical supervision and any other management activity required within the construction process). - Commercial Strategy Management (business planning for clients with project requirements via an integrated process that links all the involved agents in order to achieve objectives through architecture.) - Designing research (By using new technologies we can develop new concepts, based on efficiency, sustainability and societal benefit).

VISION DNA’s business is based on offering architectural and landscape design and providing a solution at all stages of project development from initial concept to construction management as “TURNKEY” projects. DNA wants to be one of the main references in planning, landscape design and architecture, a Spanish company that offers services both Mediterranean and global styles. DNA is a balance between public and private, in planning and project design. DNA led by Architect Aryanour Djalali and with over eight years in the international market, has been awarded several prestigious projects, such as: A Hotel Boutique S’Agaró in Girona, Spain; Building of iconic towers “Rose of the Desert” (80.000 m2) in Oran; an University Complex for 10.000 places (72.000 m2) in Algeria; a Development Hospital Project (240 beds) in ALgeria too; A British School in Ghana, An airport project in Constantine and whole design of street furniture and lighting for the city of Lusail in Qatar for the government company of Qatari Diar, among others. These results are a result of innovation and design as the success of the international expansion strategy that DNA has spent years practicing.

FACTS Over the past 15 years the practice has pioneered a sustainable approach to architecture through a strikingly wide range of work, from urban masterplans, public infrastructure, schools, hospital buildings, offices and workplaces to private houses and product design. Although based in Barcelona, the practice has an international reputation, with buildings in various countries. DNA BARCELONA ARCHITECTS understands that the best design comes from a completely integrated approach from conception to completion. We have a strong creative team, in which structural and environmental engineers work alongside the architects from the beginning of the design process. By doing so, we believe that we can learn from one another and combine our knowledge to devise wholly integrated design solutions. Our design teams are supported by numerous in-house disciplines, ensuring that we have the knowledge base to create buildings that are environmentally sustainable and uplifting to use. The Project Management group provides in-house management expertise, allowing DNA to deliver an integrated service to clients through the lifecycle of a project – from concept, through construction to completion. The group’s activities include sub-consultant, budgeting and cost management; program and resource management; contract management and administration, , helping clients and multi-disciplinary teams around the world to define, plan, monitor and deliver a project on time, within budget and to the highest quality.

We are a multidisciplinary creative team consisting in excellent professionals led by the architect: Aryanour Djalali. Designers, builders and thinkers operating within the fields of architecture, urbanism and development. The office is currently involved in different projects at a global scale. We have promoted and developed over 4,000 dwellings spread mainly between Barcelona and its metropolitan area: Costa Dorada, Maresme and Costa Brava. Our business vision has always been to strive towards the latest trends, offering added differentiated value to the final product. For the institutional architecture, we’re in process of construction for several Educational, Commercial and Facility complex buildings. With a multicultural background and after graduating from the top- class Polytechnic University of Catalonia and University of Delft, I learned that “Architecture is more than boxes but buildings that rotate talking to each other”. I believe in the Law of Attraction and have therefore built my company around this; people ultimately make the companies, business is made among people, and I try to capture their sensitivities to get to them. I define myself as an architect who translates ideas into projects. The secret is in the understanding and interpretation of these ideas, so they can be carried out through the technical requirements that respond to the discipline of architecture. This process is intimately linked to my professional creative and multidisciplinary team which contributes to the creation of added value and, consequently, to the success of the projects. In architecture you are what you live. Your background, your family, your education is the cause of everything that affects in your creativity. My way of doing architecture is linked to my experiences in life, and these are reflected in my projects. DNA LAB ELABORATES THE PROJECTS This department is responsible for contributing innovation to our proposals which are always based on the latest trends in design and the latest achievements in the market. The team is responsible for the program, concept plan stage and development of new projects, incorporating the latest research and technical advances. The primary objective is to use solid academic knowledge and professional experience to generate creative working solutions which satisfy the customer’s requirements.


DNA TECNIKA ELABORATES THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS This part of the team responsible for the preparation of draft plans and the execution of the different architectural projects being undertaken including one-family houses, multi-family houses, hotels, industrial buildings and others. The development is separated into two different lines: • Technical descriptions of the project. Executive projects development. • Plans with technical information and on-site supervision, which includes onsite assistance, manufacturers’ management and other steps necessary for the construction and development of the project.


DNA METHODOLOGY BIM - BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING BIM Implementation: DNA has acquired its own know-how and develops the projects from a centralized and intelligent platform where information is stored in a single three-dimensional model. The implementation of BIM methodology is promoting a collaborative way of manageing the construction and installation projects. OUR SCOPE OF SERVICES > We offer a wide range of service packages for any project. From BIM1D to BIM6D we include all the possibilities for your projects. BIM platform allowes us to control more and more every constructive process of a project, with a method closer to the automotive industry than to the traditional construction business. In all the projects where we have used this technology, every designing step has been improved, not just by working in just a unique collaborative model, but also by a more efficent management of the construction process. This residence located in Sant Feliu, Spain, was implemented on one of the highest vantage points of the area. Boasting on the top of the site, it offers an incomparable view onto the sea. The sleek contemporary architecture has been designed to maximize the impressive location. Balconies and terraces invite guests to revel the vistas. Inside, a spacious atmosphere of comfortable elegance awaits. Expanses of glass on each level enable to shine in natural daylight. Outside, the spectacular swimming pool looks out over the sweeping view of the Mediterranean Sea. Inside, there is another pool/jacuzzi including the comfortable spa area.

The site. The most important issue of this project was to understand the terrain in its complexity and to place the house accordingly. The access road runs by the bottom of the site and the goal was to place the house as high as possible. As we go up the hill the ground is becoming more and more attractive culminating with a fantastic view. We find impressive views to the west overlooking the settlement of Punta Brava that are even better to the east, over the sea and the distant coast of Sant Feliu.

Punto Brava IV is a house that blends seamlessly with its surroundings. The nearby Mediterranean sea is the source of inspiration. The sinusoidal, undulating movements of the waves are translated architecturally into sinusoidal forms and curves in the house. These organic forms also serve the additional purpose of allowing the house to negotiate with a challenging topography. Architectural concept of the Villa is based on the idea of the cruise liner with its along at edand rounded forms, huge pipes, well defined floor structure imitating the decks. Facade is made of special fiberglass that is used for manufacturing the bodies of the cruise yacht sand is covered by multilayer paint produced by DUPON. The paint is varnished and has reflective surface that changes colour depending on the lighting during the day.

Located in a very quiet urbanization where you can enjoy the beauty of Girona, DNA creates three luxury residences that are encircled by a green landscape. This is an exciting new residential development offering several hiking paths in an enchanting setting, a golf course for sports enthusiasts and a wealth of other features.

DNA was searching for an architectural language of deep spaces and extensive windows, all in black and white. The dramatic linear vistas of the gardens are framed.

Furthermore, the views of the greenery provide a sense of serenity and reflection to the inhabitants while grounding them to their environment. The three residences were designed as an integrated experience of architecture, interior and landscape design.

Located in a very quiet urbanization in Girona, next to other PGA Houses from DNA (PGA09, PGA10 and PGA11), the studio creates a luxury urbanization surronded by a pure green environment. This is an exciting new residential development offering several hiking paths in an enchanting setting, a golf course for sports enthusiasts and a wealth of other features. The lines of the house dialog between the nature and the other houses of the urbanization. The pure white lines of the building construct a window to the amazing landscape, which, at the end, is the main player of the project. The three residences were designed as an integrated experience of architecture, interior and landscape design.

Volumetry game. The concept used for this house is marked by the movement of volumes, the interplay between solid and void articulated through a careful use of materiality. The different positions of the volumes allow the usuers to distinguish the interior areas from the outside. Windows are positioned to enable each space it’s own view to the sea. The color of the volumes, almost white, creates a unique game of lights in the outside of the building, which can be seen from the seaside. The project enriches the landscape of forest and sea.

The challenge of this project was the topography. To overcome this challenge we decided to reverse the situation through the creation of a platform, which also serves as the living area overlooking the terraced landscape and wide open terrain. A distinct feature of this house are the two unique terraces designed to bring in light, and to encourage natural ventilation. The Japanese style patio complements the colors of the tropical patio, providing a diverse range of spatial experiences.

The Platforms house. PROGRAM: Luxury Simple Family The plot of the project is placed in a residential area of Barcelona, House Kitchen, Dinning room, Living where the mountain of Collserola begins. It makes the location a MASTERPLAN room, Gym, Spa, pool, 5 bathrooms, really inclined land to work with. MARE DE DEU DE LORDA This presentation is a peliminary study, the project is being developed by the team BARCELONA 5 bedrooms, Home Cinema Room, DNA Barcelona Architects Service area, Swimming Pool, Terraces, Because of being in a very steep terrain, the house changes this Solarium potential difficulty into strength, enriching its design through a series of different levels that separates uses. SITE: 1.600 m2 This strategy allows to conceiving different scenarios but always BUILT: 2.760 m2 maintaining the perpendicularity to the city views. These range from Multifuntional buildings to single family housing , like Luxury Residences Barranquilla and high-rise towers, like Complex Rose of Desert. DNA continuously seeks to understand how residential & multifunctional buildings can adapt to future needs. We transfer the benefit of our in-house research to clients. Using our global network of specialists, we produce advanced housing solutions worldwide. Yet we stay acutely aware of context because we know that many challenges are rooted in their location.

This project located in Calonge – the heart of Costa Brava, was mainly inspired by the waveforms which are already known to be DNA’s indicator. The sinusoidal forms create energetic places, that allow one to be in touch with the nature and it’s elements. Connected areas and open spaces encourage and enhance social interaction. Playing with private and public terraces. More pragmatically, a sustainable future for retail demands new ideas that will maintain profitability while working better for our environment and communities.

With this project we try to work with the Brazilian territory, environment and culture in order to create a novel concept of GLOCAL (global contemporary architecture + local spark of inspiration) Thereby, the main concept of this residential development located in Natal, Brazil, was inspired by the sunflower that turns all it’s structure following the solar path. Furthermore we were also fascinated by the Afro-Brazilian dancers, and their wave skirts which are typical for the North Brazilian culture. DNA unites a global network of inventive and highly skilled building engineers and design specialists. Together, we are best known to shape ambitious buildings. Offering world-class technics, creativity, and expertise – we help to realise buildings to become more useful and attractive to the people who own and inhabit them. Finally DNA is willing to create buildings that inspire and delight. The interiors and exteriors of our buildings are marked by stunning effects and playful forms realised by our designers.

A new lifestyle residence located in Andorra la Vella, situated in a mesmeric wonderland of pyrenees mountains and pristine white snow: A place to enjoy the fusion of luxury, tradition, nature and future. DNA continuously seeks to understand how residential buildings can adapt to future needs. We want to create buildings that inspire and delight, and which are responsive to people’s needs. Inspired by the stratification of rocks, the design of this project makes use of the privileged mountain location by offering each apartment breathtaking panoramic views of Andorra. DNA combines world-class expertise with a respect for context, whether we’re helping to create a new residential complex in Andorra full integrated with the environment.

The buildings that we generally combine with aesthetics and performance, are also joined together with an urban, economic, financial and environmental accomplishment. Naturplanning. Nature is the heart of this proposal. The forms remind us of the winding course of a river, the dunes of the desert or the roots of a tree. In such richness of forms will create a great wealth of spaces. As we go up in height, the buildings get lighter and create open spaces to give sunlight to the public spaces. This strategy also offers a variety of housing typologies. The proposal geometrizes and organizes the volumes of the buildings in natural forms that make up our entire landscape.

Urban Gardens. The residential building is meant to be located in the new airport city of Valdebebas, an urban project in the north of Madrid. The aim of this residential project is to provide to the user the green environment and the experience of living in a house with garden that they can not have in the city center, but in a multi-unit houses complex. Enhancing then the positive things of both ways of living in just one. The terraces with gardens provide to the neighbours private terraces to enjoy intimately, and common spaces like the swimming pool, to be used just by members of the community.

Conceptual design

The limit of the building is located on the limit of the spot, in order to provide a solid facade to the street.

The building is snipped in platforms to take advantage of the orientation and the sunlight in Spain, by becoming terraces and balconies.

With the top of the buidling shaped like stairs, the highest part rises next to another building, and the lowest part is orientated to the park.

The main idea and concept of this project is to offer Hotel Boumerdès and it’s guests a great Sea View. The programme optimization is particularly designed to improve the square meters, while taking into account Algeria’s cultural identity. Sustainability is also an important issue, as we try to use the Rain water harvesting to achieve 30% reduction of water demand, drinking artifacts as well as 100% reduction of potable water consumption. Another important point is about the building materials with low emissions and low volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Preferring the use of local materials and the prevision of using recycled materials.

This project called “Les Vagues” is an unusual mix of several offices and a hotel. Although we are working on a particular narrow plot, we were able to achieve the required programme, and to create this interesting building shape.DNA’s designers create solutions that make the transformative technological changes improve our lifestyles. Our experience across designing beyond the average form, means that we understand development in action, and the factors that bring success. We use that insight to provide strategic planning, commercial and policy advice. Oasis made Hotel. Located in the tourist area between Aouana and Jijel, the complex has a wonderful view at the first line of the Mediterranean Sea. Our goal is to create a quite space in harmony with the place. A harmony between the green city and the sea. The two bodies with bedrooms are distributed facing the sea and surrounded by two big pools. The View is very important to the Hotel. It was designed to be connected to the Mediterranean Sea for the most possible areas can enjoy the view of the Sea.

Atypical and contemporary architecture. The hotel has been designed in a manner that perfectly adapts to its environment. The design responds to the existing forms and the urban traces of its surroundings. The goal of this project is to develop an iconic building, able to relate with the city, which provides new services and new sensations through architecture. This design could be compared with the shape of a ship, angular at its base, considerably higher on the levels above. Furthermore, the creation of levels, different from each other, with large terraces overlooking the city, gives us the feeling that this large futuristic boat is in full motion by the wind.

With its avant-garde proposals resulting from the fusion of organic LOCATION: Cheraga, Algeria forms from nature, rigorous studies on the urban context, and the inclusion of social and cultural context within its own environment STATUS: DESIGN STAGE and design concepts, the design of each space is different and each is capable of creating different sensations to users. In that sense, the overlapping slabs, rotated between them and separated on the outside, which make up the skyscraper, are the terraces that seem to be in different plane, dancing in the wind in constant movement. Geometrically speaking, all the lines are angular shapes, creating an imposing and impressive image, emphasizing still further the sense of fragility, as if at any time the slabs could fall from the heights by a strong gust of wind.

The Building Intelligence. With this huge project DNA unveils the new hotel ‘Les Dunes’, which will modify the touristic skyline of Oran. The complex programme is solved through one podium that reaches the different levels of two accesses. As a result the podium elevates the whole hotel, and creates a special building shape resembling a stranded boat in the Mediterranean sea. As DNA is developing an identity hotel in Algeria, ‘Les Dunes’ will also receive a new type of traveler: simply, smart and stylish. A hub of social activity, invites to have fun and entertainment including a new vision on a warmth, charm and chic style. Quality products and services focused on design, accessibility, technology, comfort, convenience and bordless work spaces.

STATUS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION Our design teams work together to lead complex multidisciplinary projects, and working spaces for whole communities. What defines a building’s performance will depend on its purpose. Listening to the things that make an asset valuable to our clients, and to their users help us to find the direction of our designs. We uncover greater value for investors and better outcomes for stakeholders. Our flexible services lend guidance when most needed. DNA believes in economic analysis and planning, as this is the key of a positive development. Major departments include: accident and emergency with helipad on the roof and separate adult and pediatric treatment areas, over 20 outpatient clinics, outpatient procedures including endoscopy, pulmonary and cardiology, radiology and nuclear medicine, same day medical observation unit, a modern surgical suite with 20 ORs including four hybrid rooms and a women’s center.

Building the nature. Boutique Hotel S’agaro is where luxury and nature coexist. “Nature, Durability, and Sensibility” are words which encapsulate the spirit of this project. Boutique Hotel S’agaro is characterized by an impeccably contemporary design that provides comfort & luxury amenities for every guest. Each element of the design – color, funiture, and material – has been thoughtfully chosen to complement each other perfectly.

PROGRAM: Apartments, hotel, services, parking spaces: 40 units, chillout lounge with swimming pool. SITE: 4.400 m2 BUILT: 10.385 m2

Furthermore the design is based on generating the maximum of LOCATION: S’Agaró, Spain interaction between building and surrounding. The architectural expression combines elements of movement, landscape, STATUS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION technology and innovation in construction. The facade design reflects the innovation spirit. The waveforms and materials define the look and feel of the building. Also the rooms will have a wave facade treatment from every viewpoint, showing the characteristic patterns which are based on the motion water. Through the integration of carefully assembled programs into one coherent building organization, an attractive and comfortable environment is created. Outdoor spaces vary in scale and form, and become an integral part of the rooms. Finally DNA has also designed an incredible chillout lounge with a swimming pool offerimg full services, and a great sea sight to enjoy.

HEALTHCARE & EDUCATIONAL

New technologies, medical advances and changing demographics are driving massive change in models of care. DNA helps to create exemplary healthcare facilities worldwide. From project to project, we transfer best practice to inform better therapeutic environments. Beyond building design, DNA’s brings expertise in organisational behaviour to healthcare workplaces, to generate positive change and improved performance. In Educational Architecture on the other hand, DNA works closely with educators, funders, architects and developers to produce buildings and technical solutions that meet their specific needs in primary, secondary and higher education. Education’s challenges are always evolving. Beyond the technical and creative, designing for education demands an appreciation of economic and social context. For example, our under construction project British School of Ghana had to be robust and build to cope with limited budgets, materials and skills. In education, it is essential that facilities are costeffective to build, run and maintain. It is also important that buildings are engaging, pleasant environments, equipped with quality systems, that help institutions attract and retain students and staff.

The Building Intelligence. PROGRAM: Hospital Building (1.171 beds), Dental Clinic, Staff Car Parking, Public Car Parking, Central Utility Plant, Regional Healthcare Administration Building, Sub Station SITE: 215.000 m2 BUILT: 435.000 m2 LOCATION: Al Jahra, Kuwait STATUS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The new hospital is organized around a central five-story atrium space with major diagnostic and treatment programs as well as outpatient programs located west of the atrium. Inpatient bed wings are 14 stories tall and occupy the east side of the atrium. Internal service corridors and bridges provide for horizontal inpatient transfer and service functions. Vertical transportation is provided through a series of 10 elevator cores with separate public, clean and soiled service elevators. Visitors and staff arrive at a central site entrance and circulate to one of two garages. All pedestrian traffic enters the hospital directly via the central atrium for ease of wayfinding. Visitors can access their destinations via a system of escalators, atrium walkways and bridges on floors ground through three as well as the elevators located in each department.


ANTICANCER CENTER O R AN, A L G E R I A


PROGRAM: Hospital, Oncology Center, outside Parking, Cafeteria, Administration, Terrace

SITE: 4.489 m2 BUILT: 17.500 m2 LOCATION: Oran, Algeria STATUS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION Architecture for the people. The proposal of this project intends to create a center for technological vanguard, supported by a flexible and functional organization in accordance with the requirements over time. Having comfort and safety for users and workers, as well as conditions which are economically viable and preservable. This functional concern has a strong impact on the center’s design, as it is materialized in an architectural set having no trivial features. Accordingly the building consists of two separated blocks which are visually and functionally independent. The site area amounts to 0.74 Ha, the main topography will be soft and comfortable for general circulation and for the implementation of the building. Based on the proposal, we will add a place of relaxation and safety rest areas for patients and staff. Furthermore the volumetric proposal is designed as two differentiated volumes, lower volume for the services (-1 floor to +2), and higher volume for hospitalization and facilities (floors +3 to +5). The whole construction involving the structural systems and the facade, will offer an avant-garde architecture having the latest technology systems that will enable future expansions and modifications. The roofs and courtyards are used for proportioning natural light to the building, as they treat the landscape perspective to incorporate a pleasant sense of closeness with nature. Finally we are willing to minimize the negative impact of the traditional hospital image on users, but to reinforce the mindset of a pleasing atmosphere.


HOSPITAL DOUERA, AL G ER I A


Healthcare evolution. Hospital functional structures have evolved over history: From the ‘pavilion’ hospital in the 19th century to the ‘tower’ hospital in the 20th century, where a new type of hospital arose described as: “networking”. For that reason in this hospital DNA works with traffic and communications to intensify the interactions and functional flexibility regarding the respective changes over time. Hospital Douera has a network structure that organizes various assistance services. Above this there are support units creating a less dense structure. The system is designed to be “open” allowing the growth of different services, and providing the perfect pass between them. In this way, this project envisages possible scenarios for conversion and expansion that are constant in programs of this nature. PROGRAM: Hospital Building. External rooms, 240 beds.

The landscape area seeks to offer a place of rest with nature and calm. One develops a clear dividing triangular bed, each floor with a different texture using materials of floral vegetation, street furniture and lighting. Thereby, it will be a succession of moods integrating seamlessly with the environment vineyards.

The building is designed to propose illuminated and spacious work areas, ensuring the functional relationships of proximity / accessibility that are the most suitable chain production / utilization of healthcare.

Education first. In education, it is essential that facilities are cost-effective to build, run and maintain. It is also important that buildings are engaging, pleasant environments, equipped with quality systems that help institutions attract and retain students and staff. DNA reinvents the university campus and emphasizes an integrated approach for studying and leisure. The UNIVERSITY COMPLEX TIZI-OUZOU is compound of buildings, and an auditorium interacting with the topography of the site. It also promotes campus activities and a pedestrian circulation while unifying each building with leisure, interior and exterior spaces.

Several soft lines connect the rigid square buildings. As a result STATUS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION this matrix provides a flexible structure between study and leisure spaces, enabling an Oasis Plaza with water sources, local vegetation, etc. Finally the complex combines opposite concepts: � rigid + soft “, and simulates the spirit of the project between study and leisure.

The formal concept of the school is like a continuous ribbon that weaves in ascending order representing the advancement of a child’s education. The circulation space of the building is a continuous ramp where a single corridor links all areas, and is constantly increasing in height. Furthermore the building’s rings enclose interior spaces with an introverted character that provides social spaces, and places of pauses while active sports are situated outside the rings. The facade consists of glass and blind-boards that follow the chronology colors of a rainbow. As a result the facade creates a fun and friendly image, inviting students to experience space and knowledge.

DNA technika team’s aim is to develop new shapes of buildings in high. From the sea to the sky. Coral Reef Tower rises above the urban landscape evoking a new form of sea life with its slender silhouette inspired by the shapes of corals. The formal and colorful richness of corals is marvelous. Typical shapes of coral species are wrinkled brains, cabbages, table tops, antlers, wire strands and pillars. These shapes can depend on the coral’s life history like light exposure, wave action, and events such as breakages. Often called “rainforest of the sea”, shallow coral reefs form some of the most diverse shapes, which give us the spark inspiration of this project.

The Planetarium Tower in Panama City is standing 92 and 82 levels, in every volume. This spectacular two-tower project adds not only height to the existing skyline of the Latin America City, but character too. From the small aspect ratio (17:1 for a single tower) of the building, to the five tower-to-tower connections along the height of the building, the project is full of unique details that empowers the final result. The sobriety of the glass facade creates an athmosphere of elegant yet modern design.

Let’s twist again. PROGRAM: Multi-unit luxury houses: Penthouses and Duplex; Commercial and Offices. SITE: 1.100 m2 BUILT: 97.758 m2 LOCATION: Abu Dhabi, United Arabic Emirates STATUS: DESIGN STAGE

The uniqueness of the form is due to its geometrical transformation. The ground floor (0 degrees) becomes, in the last upper floor, a 90 degrees twisted orientation. The other floors are rotated progressively in order to make a smooth twisted movement. Consequently, the Twisted Towers are outstanding landmarks, emphasized by their dynamic shape.


The twisted facade contributes to create a variety of interior spaces depending on the orientation of each floor. Through this strategy, plenty of spaces with quality lighting and views are created. Furthermore, the buildings are conditioned in the inside to offer all the amenities for a luxurious living in residential apartments, given in different options of typologies. The structural system of the building, based on an internal rigid core, offers flexibility to the floors. The activity can change from residential to offices or hotel. The envelope responds to the surroundings and the distribution of the floors. In one side, the facade is full of glass and openings that connect the interior of the apartments with the large terraces. The other side, made of titanium, reflects the sun all day long, emphasizing the building shape through the city skyline. With the aim to provide the city a non-contaminant building, the facade without terraces has incorporated several photovoltaic panels that generate the energy that the building consumes. The location, sunny the entire year, is perfect for this kind of sustainability solution. In this way, the towers become an almost self-sufficient construction.

Aluminum composite panels, are also sometimes called sandwich panels because they consist of two aluminum sheets that sandwich a non-aluminum core. This façade system utilizes advanced insulated panel technology that delivers a high performance building envelope, and at the same time reduces complexities in design and build and also offers: • Energy efficiency and high performance building envelope. • Environmental reflexions on its surface that contribute to integrate the building on its environment. • Luxurious image of the building. • Increased build speed to allow interior trades to begin work sooner.

To the moon and back. Internationally-recognized symbol of the faith of Islam, the crescent moon plays a significant role in Islamic architecture. The design and construction of the building is influenced by the principles of Islamic architecture. The orientation of the towers towards the Mecca is adapted to the urban fabric. We can find indications of various geometric principles: the application of the shapes related to the geometrical principles of the moon. These residential towers aim is becoming a distinctive addition to the city skyline. The strength of the towers shape and their concept behind will make the complex become an iconic landmark in Abu Dhabi.

A High end design glass facade with curtain walls helps to mitigate the solar heat while maximizing the daylight. Indoor green spaces and outdoor terraces for tenants create sky gardens and vertical green strips. A natural airflow system results from the difference between solids and voids. Designed after analysing the different synergies between the moon and the proposed site during various periods of the year, the building embodies beauty and sophistication. The use of parametric software involved in the structure, provides a unique depth in order to appreciate the wide and beautiful panoramic views.

A garden in the sky. The hanging gardens of Babylon, one of the seven wonders of the world. Ancient, is the only one whose location has not been definitively established. The hanging gardens were a distinctive feature of ancient Babylon, a great source of pride for the people. The gardens of the building are going to have a remarkable impact in the surronndings and in the lifes of its inhabitants: the beauty of an ascending serie of staggered gardens of all kinds: trees, shrubs and vines. Emulating a mountain, the gardens will be a drop of nature into the city.
