# I n d e p e n d e n t Wo m a n I think the common misconception people have when we say that “she’s an independent woman” is that she is a feminist or that she is someone who doesn’t need a man in her life or the worst is that she wants to be a man. Independence actually doesn’t necessarily include feminism; one can be independent even without being a die-hard feminist. Being independent doesn’t mean having a vendetta to make the world free from men or to overturn the rule of men. Herein lies the biggest mistaken belief. Just like Manohara Odelia. When we saw her through her past life and her Instagram feed, we noticed that she was very independent. She revealed that the common themes that pop up with the words ‘independent woman’ is the ability to provide for ones self and to feel confident in who you are. “I don’t disagree, those are big traits in being independent but it’s also important to use those traits for good and be useful to the people around you and fight for the causes you believe in,” said her. Acting atau Nyanyi?
Both, I started my career dari nyanyi, baru merambah ke acting. Saat ini lebih banyak project yang related sama acting; I have some movies yang akan tayang dan udah tayang. Nyanyi juga emang hobi dan passion aku sih sih, jadi keduanya favoritku. Untuk saat ini aku lagi reading film, baru mulai, insyaAllah tahun depan juga akan ada film yang tayang.
Prioritas dalam hidup?
Untuk aku, pendidikan nomor satu karena the first time I moved to Jakarta itu karena dapat beasiswa, bukan karena alasan lain.
Cara menjaga diri dari pergaulan bebas? Cara jaga diri dari pergaulan bebas, terutama narkoba, itu balik ke diri kita sendiri. Those things happened itu karena kurangnya pengawasan keluarga, lingkungan yang kurang baik atau mungkin kalian salah pilih teman. There are some ways to prevent it, for me aku lebih memilih teman, surround ourselves with orang-orang yang positif dan harus dekat juga dengan ortu kita biar mereka bisa ngawasin kita dan teman-teman kita. Mengisi waktu luang dengan halhal yang positif misalnya ambil kelas menyanyi atau main gitar sendiri di rumah. Maybe kita juga bisa memperluas pengetahuan karena knowledge is power. And we have to know our limits.

endapat soal public figure yang kena narkoba? Sebagai public figure, kita tuh memang wajib banget jaga sikap dalam apapun yang kita lakukan karena people actually look up to you, jadi sorotan publik banget. Untuk public figure yang kena narkoba, itu sayang banget karena nggak mudah membangun karir, terus dalam sekejap mata rusak karena narkoba. Buat mereka yang terjebak, semoga ini bisa dijadikan pelajaran dan nggak terulang ke depannya.

Hi Manohara! Can you share us about your works with animal right? how’s it all started? Currently, I volunteer for JAAN (Jakarta Animal Aid Network) Wildlife. It started when I expressed interest in volunteering. I’ve always been passionate about animal welfare, but aside from going vegetarian then vegan 6 years ago, I didn’t feel as if I’ve done anything to help. A friend introduced me to one of the founders of JAAN, Femke. Femke asked if I was interested in joining a relocation of a baby orangutan named Otan. I jumped at the chance and haven’t stopped since. The work that JAAN do is truly amazing.
What’s the most unforgettable experience that you’ve had when defending animal rights? Probably when I looked into the Tapanuli orangutan in Batang Toru. The forest is the home of the newly-discovered Tapanuli Orangutan. There are only 800 Tapanuli Orangutans left in the wild and they’re threatened by a hydro dam project; if it continues, extinction is a looming reality for the species. Then, there are many firsts volunteering for JAAN. First time relocating orangutan to Sumatra, cassowaries birds to Papua, dolphins in Bali

, first time releasing ex-dancing monkeys back in the wild. Each of those firsts are all unforgettable. I can say what remains an unforgettable common thread in these relocations is the dedication of the amazing team at JAAN. They truly are real life heroes.

So, what keeps you busy these days? My partners and I have a publishing company called Tiga Meja Kreasi. We specialize in corporate magazines, everything from the content providing to printing.
Can you share us what would be your upcoming projects? In the future, I hope to be able to continue raising awareness that wild animals are not pets and should not be used for our entertainment. And I hope to continue to be part of a team that helps wild animals that unfortunately are already being exploited as pets or for “entertainment”.

Tucked away in a corner in Double Six Seminyak, Lloyd’s Inn Bali is a hidden oasis of architecture and nature. Go off-grid and unwind without the city’s hustle bustle.

onvenience is at your doorstep, with the beach just 300m away, and a myriad of shops, eateries, and transport along the street when you step out. An abode in the city, a space to escape the reconnect at the same time. There’s a lovely Danish word, hyggelig, to describe something nice, cosy and comforta-ble. And Lloyds Inn Bali, is nsuper cozy boutique hotel wrapped in white and greener y mood. While we were waiting for our check in time, we were greeting by welcoming drinks (same treatment that we have got from five-star hotel). We were curious to tr y another drinks s well such as pineapple juice which ser ved in a lab bottle-esque. It was not only taste good. but also affordable.
We were never facing the bath tub under the sky right after we opened the door. The room is quote big themed woody and white col-or which rejuvenate our mind and freshen our seeing. The bed is wonderful and what the room lacks in size it makes up for with charm. The furniture (a small desk, smaller table, mini-sofa) is built-in, made from richly varnished wood that gleams in the sun coming through the skylight. It’s like sleeping in a classic ocean-liner cabin. It was a bit dangerous because we almost didn’t want to get out of our room. The next morning, we chose wag yu black burger for breakfast. The taste was scrumptious, which blowed our mind that the concept of “boutique hotel” for lloyds Right after the receptionist allowing us to Inn is a bit underrated. Their breakfast get in our room in second floor, we couldn’t menu was complete for not only our apwait see the room. And it was amazing. petite but for our nu-trition needs: fruits, bread, milk, tea, coffee, and many more.
