Commit Commit

Students have made their commitment. The International Fraternity has made its commitment. A strong foundation is in place. If you commit, we can leverage our success and build on this foundation by expanding access, increasing opportunities for all Pikes to participate and preserve the programs that make PIKE University the leading fraternal educational experience that it is today.

As early as 1978, Pi Kappa Alpha made the commitment to educate emerging leaders by hosting an annual Presidents’ Conference. From those humble beginnings developed the Chapter Executives Conference, a key pillar of the PIKE University curriculum.

Although the Fraternity has spent its entire history educating and training our members, it wasn’t until 2003 that the International Fraternity and its volunteer leadership made a commitment to implement a comprehensive program to assemble best practices and coordinate the educational initiatives of Pi Kappa Alpha.

Nearly ten years and 30,000 participants later that commitment is paying off. Today, we have an enviable track record of success. We successfully implement eleven annual events for nearly 3,500 students costing nearly $1 million each year.

Undergraduates are committed to the program as well. They understand the advantage it provides. Demand exceeds capacity. Our students compete to attend in order to gain the knowledge, skills and advantage they can’t obtain on their campuses. Their commitment is so strong that students pay $9 out of every $10 it costs to operate PIKE University.

The evidence is overwhelming. Pi Kappa Alpha is one of the largest and most respected fraternities in North America today. Our students and alumni do extraordinary things. PIKE University works. Those students who attend outperform their peers within the Fraternity. PIKE University graduates create environments within their chapters (one of the first leadership laboratories of their lives) that foster success. Grades are higher. They attract, recruit and retain 44% more men than their counterparts. They receive numerous campus accolades. They outperform their Pike brothers and other Pike chapters that do not take advantage of everything PIKE University has to offer. We know that educated students become educated citizens. Through Pi Kappa Alpha, students and alumni are gaining the servant-leadership, management and personal development skills they need to compete and succeed in the world as well as the skills they need to make the world a better place.

Despite our success, there’s more we can do. There’s more we should do. Today, PIKE University impacts just 21% of our undergraduate membership. Imagine what Pi Kappa Alpha would look like, and imagine the exponential impact on countless young men’s lives – if we could reach the other 79%.

Each year, the professional staff at the International Fraternity evaluates and ranks each PIKE chapter on a scale of 1 (lowest) to 4 (highest). Chapters who send representatives to PIKE University are stronger and more successful with an average score of 3.28. Chapters that do not send sufficient representatives face more challenges and have an average score of 1.96.

This Campaign is a historic effort and the solution to expand access and increase opportunities so all Pikes gain the knowledge and important life skills offered by PIKE University. We will accomplish this by: • using innovative delivery methods, • reducing the cost for each participant, • providing scholarships, and • developing alumni-centered resources and programming. How can we accomplish these objectives? How can we expand our reach and impact the lives of every Pike brother entrusted to our care? We can do it with your enthusiastic support of The Campaign for PIKE University.

Corruption, dishonesty, greed words that dominate the news headlines we see every day. Their consequences affect our jobs, our investments and the futures of our children. It seems on some days, society’s main problem is the declining level of integrity in those who lead our communities, government and business enterprises. The young men in our organization have been influenced from several directions throughout their lives. Whether it is the Boy Scouts of America, church youth groups, or organized sports teams – someone has been working to mold these young men. We are the last stop. We are the final chapter in the story of personal development and guidance for our undergraduates.

PIKE is focused on producing what our country needs most - leaders with integrity. We do this through the innovative programs and delivery methods that make up PIKE University. Be it the standard Dress for Success session, or perhaps an in depth analysis of critical thinking and decision making – PIKE University focuses on honing those skills that will lead to prolonged success in business and in life.

In partnership with you, and brothers from all over the world, Pi Kappa Alpha will raise $10 million to expand, innovate, endow and protect the PIKE University program and curriculum that has such a positive impact on so many young men.

With your help, Pi Kappa Alpha can educate and inspire more young men to take action and provide the leadership communities across the country needed to excel and survive as we forge ahead into the 21st century.

• $2 million for distance learning and technology enhancements that expand access

Specifically, we will raise: • $ 5 million to endow PIKE University programs

• $1 million to expand alumni specific curriculum • $2 million for chapter-specific restricted funds that provide scholarships and educational grants so members of a particular chapter can participate in PIKE University.

“Events such as the Chapter Executives Conference not only provide the opportunity for personal leadership development, but ensure our chapter officers are receiving the best operations training available – sustaining the success of Pi Kappa Alpha for the long term.”

G. Brint Ryan North Texas, Epsilon Delta ‘83

“PIKE University has clearly demonstrated its ability to develop and train our undergraduates. This has resulted in increased chapter success through heightened leadership skills. By endowing these programs, we are directly investing in the future success of these young men.”

Thomas C. Tillar Virginia Tech, Epsilon ‘70

“Never before have alumni had such a compelling reason to give back to Pi Kappa Alpha, and what better reason than the personal development and leadership training of our undergraduates. Rallying support for PIKE University programs is truly in line with the mission and vision of our Fraternity, helping ensure that all Pikes become principled citizens and courageous leaders.”

PIKE University has trained me to become a successful leader in every aspect of life. I use what I learned from PIKE University every single day - both in my professional career and as a servant in my community. – Adam Billiter, Northern Kentucky University, Eta Rho

PIKE University broadens our vision to excel within our Greek system, on our campus and within our community. – Conor Lansdale, California State University Northridge, Zeta Omicron PIKE University has had a significant impact on my chapter. The year our chapter sent a pledge class of 27 men to the Leadership Summit was the year we started to become a top chapter on our campus. That pledge class held more executive council positions, more Interfraternity Council executive board positions and other campus leadership positions than any pledge class in recent memory. Although it was a very expensive investment at the time for us, it paid off greatly through the efforts of those individuals who attended. – William "Danny" Jonas, University of Missouri, Alpha Nu
