CURRENT VISUAL ART AND COMMUNITY ART WORKS:

COLORFUL WOMEN: A series of illustrations, writings and paintings of women in abstract form. Through color, shape and the use of the human female figure, this series’ objective is to open eyes to another type of feminine beauty that is beyond the curves, clothes, make up and teased hair. These images convey a beauty that comes from the colorful nuisances of women’s personalities, emotions, and experiences. (http://dmjstudio.com/my-art/colorfulwomen/) DETROIT100 The Detroit100 Project is a community art project that brings together Detroiters and Detroit lovers to tell the stories of the city and its people through 100 different art-based projects. It is comprised of four series of exhibits (poster, sketchbook, photography and video) and workshops for designers and community members. It’s purpose is to grow the positive perception of Detroit through art and to also bring designers together with Detroit community members to create art that is a true depictions of the city experience. (http://dmjstudio.com/detroit100/) HOUSE Project HOUSE Project – A Collaboration, is a community initiative with a goal of creating a higher quality of life in the Detroit neighborhoods. HOUSE Project will consist of 12 hubs throughout the city of Detroit (2 in each district). The hubs are a physical network for neighbors and neighborhoods to communicate with one another, work with one another and share resources with on another while growing together. A place where neighbors can gather and create resources, events, programming and projects that will make the neighborhood a viable and great place to be and live.
