George J. Davies, DPT, MED, PT, SCS, ATC, LAT, CSCS, PES, FAPTA Knee Course Shoulder Course

Dr. Davies is an internationally known speaker who has presented hundreds of conferences throughout the world on sports physical therapy, athletic training, shoulder, knee, open and closed kinetic chain topics, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and Isokinetics. Dr. Davies is a clinician, educator, speaker, researcher, author, editor and consultant. He has been involved in the clinical practice of sports physical therapy/athletic training, since he was a student athletic trainer, for almost 50 years.

Dr. Davies has published over 200 articles and research abstracts, has written several books, and has contributed chapers to over 40 books. He is the original co-founder and co-editor of the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy, and has served as the President of the APTA - Sports Physical Therapy Section.

Krisi Young-Probert, OTD, OTR/L, CHT Wrist & Hand Course

Dr. Probert earned her doctorate in Occupational Therapy and is a Certified Hand Therapist. She specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic trauma to the upper extremity, and is also a Certified Functional Capacity Evaluator. She is the Director of Clinical Programs for BenchMark Rehab Partners, overseeing the development and execution of research, outcomes, and quality care programs for 150 clinics nationwide. Dr. Probert is also an assistant professor of Occupational Therapy at Brenau University, specializing in anatomy, kinesiology, adults/older adults, and specialized UE tracts.

Mary Vacala, PA-C, ATC, MSPAS, DFAAPA Essential Orthopedic Skills Course

Mary has specialized in Orthopedic Sports Medicine for 25 years, is a national speaker at numerous medical conferences, and has served on the Olympic/Paralympic medical team for the past 2 decades. She was recently selected as the head ATC/PA-C for the USA Men’s wheelchair basketball team and will travel with them in all their competitions up to and including the 2016 Paralympic games in Rio, Brazil. Mary is a past president of the Georgia Association of PAs, and has served on the AAPA House of Delegates for several years. She has presented at several national conferences and authored in the book Ballweg/Physician Assistant: A Guide to Clinical Practice/5e.

Concussion Management Certification Course Mary Vacala, PA-C, ATC, MSPAS, DFAAPA An estimated 173,285 sports and recreation related traumatic brain injuries, including concussions, among children and adolescents younger than 19 are treated each year in U.S. emergency departments according to the CDC. Join us for this BRAND NEW course based on the CDC curriculum and earn your official Concussion Management Certification. Upon certification, you will understand a concussion and the potential consequences of this injury, recognize concussion signs and symptoms and how to respond, learn about steps for returning to activity (play and school) after a concussion, and focus on prevention and preparedness to help keep athletes safe season-to-season. At the conclusion of the course and with passing test scores, participants will receive a certification of completion.

DMG Gives Back! We are thrilled to continue our “DMG Gives Back” program in 2014. This year, a portion of conference proceeds will be donated to Listen Up!, a foundation dedicated to helping children with hearing impairments, created in honor of my 7th grade son Caleb. Caleb, is completely deaf in both ears, but through the miracle of cochlear implants now leads a full and extremely productive life. He plays sports, is a CPR certified Boy Scout, and neighborhood pet sitter, has a great sense of humor, and his friends and teachers often say they forget he is deaf. In fact, listening to him play the piano has brought many to tears of joy. He is our superstar and hero, and it is our wish that others will be inspired by Caleb too!
