Syllabus Course Description The Dual Credit Facilitator Training provides an overview of the expectations, responsibilities, and resources available to Del Mar College’s valued ISD faculty and staff who facilitate online course delivery for our respective dual credit students enrolled in college-level courses. Dual Credit Facilitator Guidelines The role of the ISD Dual Credit Facilitator responsibilities are as follows: 1. Request Canvas access from the DMC instructor of record. (note: instructors reserve the right to deny access) 2. Complete or attend the DMC Facilitator training hosted by the ECP office. 3. Offer dual credit students support when enrolled in an online course: a. ensure that students are able to log into their CANVAS account b. assist students with contacting the DMC IT Helpdesk for technology issues c. ensure students have all required materials for the course (textbooks, access code etc.) d. proctor exams and ensure that lockdown browsers are set in place for exams e. ensure that students are working on their DMC course work during time provided by the ISD f. Inform the DMC instructor of record within the first two weeks of the semester if there is a potential scheduling problem between the ISD and DMC. (i.e. SAT, ACT, EOC, PSAT exams, intersession breaks and holidays) g. Work with the DMC Early College Programs/Dual Credit Office when students are having issues contacting their DMC instructors. h. *Visit the Canvas Facilitator Resource page for troubleshooting and questions.

The facilitator role does NOT include the following items: 1. Teaching the online DMC course. 2. Setting up parent conferences to discuss academic course issues and assignments. 3. Making the initial contact on behalf of a student in regards to assignments, grades, or course related questions.

The Collaboratory Learning Space The Collaboratory is located is located in #310 Venters Building (East Campus) and provides individual and group study space, access to computers, and tutoring. Online Tutoring The Del Mar College Student Success Center provides opportunities for tutoring online via video/audio conferencing. For more information and to schedule an online tutoring session, call 361-698-2259. Once you have scheduled an appointment, you will receive a code via e-mail that will allow you to sign in at your scheduled time. You will also be able to e-mail your tutor ahead of time.

Math Learning Center The Math Learning Center provides individual tutoring for all math classes on campus. Bring your math questions to #117 in the Coles Building or stop by to work on your math homework (just raise your hand when you need help and a tutor will be available). Math tutoring is also available in the Student Success Center (#111 St. Clair Building) and the Collaboratory (#310 Venters Building).

Stone Writing Center For assistance with academic writing, tutoring is available at the Stone Writing Center on the 4th Floor of the White Library on East Campus. You can also submit your papers and receive feedback online. For more information, visit http://dmc122011.delmar.edu/swc/. To join the Stone Writing Center online, go to www.delmar.edu/swc, select Online Tutoring Program, Canvas log in, choose Enroll/Go to Course. Supplemental Instruction Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides additional lessons for classes that have high levels of difficulty. SI sessions are optional and provided at no additional charge. Speech Communication Center Trained staff at the Speech Communication Center provide individual tutoring for the entire speechmaking process, including researching, organizing, and practicing. They also have space and equipment to help you create and incorporate visual aids into your speech as well as record your speech so you can evaluate your progress. Distance Learning Math Call Center This organization provides free math tutoring for Texas residents who are over 19 years old and not currently enrolled in K-12 public education. Call 1-888-295-3916 or go to www.studentnest.com and select the “Live Support.” Tutoring is available via computer, smartphone, or landline from 6 AM – 10 PM.
