IBS students can choose eight electives (24 units) to help them gain more insights into other disciplines (humanities, social science, and science and technology etc) which they deem needed to have a more holistic view of business and management. The students are free to choose electives that can be taken from different departments of the college, different colleges of the university, and from the College of St. Benilde. The electives are meant to cap the interdisciplinary nature of the program.
IBS students are required to take 36 units of management and business subjects and 24 units of elective courses. The curriculum engages the students in an interdisciplinary approach in business and management through an in detail study of the basic management disciplines: marketing, operations, finance, human resource, information systems, and strategic management. New IBS program will provide the students their basic managerial competencies thru their required core courses, and the students choose what they want to become thru their elective subjects.
Interdisciplinary Business Studies The Interdisciplinary Business Studies (IBS) program was developed for students of the College of Business (COB) who desire a more generalist orientation to business. This degree is intended for those who want to be knowledgeable about the basic principles of the diverse disciplines of Business. This curriculum is appropriate for the student who wishes to postpone specialization until graduate school. The program covers more focus on the different functional areas of management namely: marketing, finance, information systems, operations, and human resource management. and other areas.
