INITIATIVE UPDATES Summer 2017

Office Delivery: local CYMH resources for physicians H ow can you best help a youth who comes to your office with mental health concerns? This summer, a folder of physician resources for Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use is being hand delivered to physician offices in Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos, Princeton, Penticton and Summerland. These resources, newly developed by CYMHSU Local Action Teams, will help physicians find appropriate local care and resources for their patients. In grade 12, McKinlay had the courage to organize a Mental Health Awareness Week event at her school, and shared her experience with anorexia with her classmates. Since then, McKinlay has spoken at various events including the CYMHSU Collaborative, the CYMHSU Congress, the Summer Institute, and the Kootenay/Interior Eating Disorder Conference.
