What Others Can Learn from My Leadership Style Leadership is not a single, defined path—it is a journey shaped by experience, mistakes, and continuous learning. My foundation began early, influenced by parents who instilled a strong work ethic and the principle that success requires effort and focus. These values taught me that hard work and dedication are the cornerstones of effective leadership. From my first job at age 12, I was exposed to diverse leadership styles. I learned that fearbased approaches—such as aggression or public criticism—stifle growth and discourage learning. Instead, I believe in guiding others honestly and constructively, helping them learn from mistakes without fear. This does not mean that one should sugarcoat constructive criticism, as that may also stifle growth and learning if you are not open and honest with others on your team. For me, leadership means more than achieving results; it is about fostering collaboration, inspiring growth, and creating an environment where people feel valued. My approach is grounded in three principles: empathy, accountability, and empowerment. These principles enable adaptability, emotional intelligence, and clear communication— qualities essential in today’s world. These are the principles I try to instill in those I work with, as well as my young children. Ultimately, success is not measured solely by outcomes but by the development and well-being of the people who make those outcomes possible. In the legal industry, no one should be judged on the mistakes they make as a young law clerk, or first-year associate, but on how they adapt to grow from the lessons and adversity that they meet. Great leaders do not stand above their teams—they stand with them, leading by example and hard work.
