Children and the Constitution
Constitutional Kids, a book that breaks down the Constitution in an easily understandable manner for children, was officially launched on Saturday 1 December.
Opskop for good course Opskop, a community carnival and music festival in aid of a good cause, was successfully held at Southey’s Vines in Somerset West recently. The event was made up of a bit of everything, from entertainment for the kids, a music festival by talented musicians to food stalls with a coffee lounge and a beer garden. The beneficiary of the festival was Trade-mark, a local job creation NGO that connects the best tradespeople in the townships with those who require their services. This book is the brainchild of Somerset West resident Lee-Anne Flack (28), who is also a law student at Stellenbosch University. The idea to write this book came to Lee-Anne when she did volunteer work in Nyanga and at the Food for Life school and orphanage in Vrindavan, India. According to Marida Flack, LeeAnne’s mother, the launch was a great success and it was attended by hordes of children. “All went really well with the launch. It’s a day that the kids will remember for a long time. It was filled loads fun.” She added that many of the children who attended came from children’s homes and are also known to Lee-Anne from her days volunteering in Nyanga. The children who attended were spoiled with rock climbing, canoeing, quad-biking, swimming, jumping castles, water slides, pony rides, face painting and loads more. The book is available at Vergelegen Spar in Rome Glen or phone Marida on 071 106 2247 or e-mail email@example.com.
