niciemos tratando de aclarar la diferencia entre dos palabras que se emplean muy seguido a la hora de adquirir una propiedad en un polo turístico, ambas se usan como si fueran sinónimos y no los son, me refiero a comprar e invertir.

et’s begin by trying to clarify the difference between two concepts commonly used when purchasing a property in a tourist destination, both are often used as synonyms but they are not. I am speaking about buying and investing.
Al comprar una propiedad en la playa, en la montaña o en un complejo de golf, se ponen de manifiesto una serie de sentimientos, propios y ajenos, que al final determinan si lo que nos interesa es una villa o un apartamento; si el destino a elegir debe ser Samaná o Punta Cana; si debe poseer dos o tres habitaciones; en fin, al comprar nos guiamos de nuestras emociones.
When buying a property on the beach, in the mountains or on a golf resort, a series of feelings become evident, either personal or from others, that ultimately determine if what we want is a villa or an apartment; if the destination to choose should be Samana or Punta Cana, whether to have two or three bedrooms, in short, when we buy we are guided by our emotions.
Pero si hablamos de inversión lo único que nos debe preocupar es nuestro retorno de Inversión (ROI). Por esta razón lo primero que debemos determinar a la hora de adquirir nuestra casa de veraneo, es si lo que queremos es comprar una experiencia o hacer una inversión.
But in terms of investment, the only thing that should concern us is our return on investment (ROI). For this reason the first thing to determine when buying our holiday home, is whether we want to buy an experience or to make an investment.
Es posible que su respuesta sea: “mi intención es combinar ambos: una casa vacacional que sea una buena inversión”. Esto es posible, pero debes saber entonces que su ROI no será el más alto; sin embargo, el inmueble podrá ser amortizado con las experiencias vividas en él.

Maybe your answer is: “I intend to combine both: a holiday home that is a good investment.” Though this may be possible, you have to know that your ROI will not be the highest, knowing that the property may be repaid with the experiences lived inside of it.
