I CAN’T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD © As I was sitting with one of my clients, she tried to explain to me what she was experiencing. She was desperately searching for the words that could describe her emotional pain. She said, ”I can’t get it out of my head!” I replied, “What can’t you get out of your head?” “My thoughts and all that other stuff up there…You know, in my brain!” I instantly understood what she was referring to: “Oh…we call that the ‘chatter.’ It’s awful, right?” She responded, “Yes, and I can’t get it to turn off. Can you help me?” We humans have a magnificent brain, but if we do not learn how to manage the overflow of “stuff” that comes along with it, the chatter will eventually manage us, to say the least. In fact, most of us are walking around with out of control brains. Unless we put our brains “in check,” it will spin, chatter, worry, and keep us up at night, leaving us feeling helpless and even more out of control.

We create the monster, but we can also rid ourselves and forge a new path. This has to do with taking back control and calming that big, beautiful brain. How do we calm the brain? You start by embracing and accepting the chatter. As strange as this sounds, it is a necessary step. We spend most of our lives fighting the anxiety, depression and fear, What does this do? It makes it escalate. Start by loving the fear, the chatter, that tape that continually loops throughout your head. This is as simple as having a mindful moment with the negative “stuff” next time it rears its head. Create a bit of a conversation with this piece. You are merely honoring the fact that you took part in the creation of this painful cycle. Take a moment to say to yourself, “This no longer serves me, and I can shift this mindset to create a mindset that can be calm when needed and not be out of control.” Every time you experience the chatter, stop and be with it, no matter how awful it is; creating a space for healing and an opportunity to love this part of you.

Can we fix it? Yes, there are many ways to stop the chatter. It depends on what you want. To begin, I encourage you to ask yourself this question: ”Why is my brain chattering?” This may sound like a silly question, but I believe deep down we all know the “why,” we just don’t sit with it long enough to get the answer. In other words, the reason your brain will not shut off is because you have conditioned it to do so. Think about that for a moment. The brain works in tandem with the body. If we start spinning with anxiety about something, we can get ourselves worked up and before you know it, your heart rate has increased and your blood pressure begins to rise. All of this can be done in just seconds. It works the other way as well. If you first notice a sensation in your body, your mind can get the message and you’re off and running with thoughts that just won’t quit. Before you know it, you can’t get out of your head.

When doing this work, as erroneous thoughts randomly pop up, remember, always come back to your breathe…in, out, in, out…allowing your lungs to fill up like two balloons and empty on the exhalation. These simplistic steps really do work. With practice and discipline, you will calm the chatter and your brain. Before you know it, you will be spending more than ten minutes in this space and will be creating space between the chatter and the calm. You are rewiring your brain to make room for more happiness, purpose, and calm in your life.

Next, I recommend using your breath as a conduit for creating calm in your mind and body. Go to a quiet place for about ten minutes to start, slowly build on the duration. Begin by drawing your breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. These are called cleansing breaths. Take about three to four of these to get started. These help to get you grounded in the body. Next, close your eyes and turn your attention inward. This process is all about checking in with yourself. We all spend so much time making sure everyone else is cared for that we put ourselves on the back burner. Take a few minutes to scan your body and ask yourself, “How am I?” After you pose this question, wait for the response. This means you wait for anything: a thought that pops up, a feeling that washes through you, a sensation that urges you to listen, anything. Choose the one that screams the loudest and breathe into that spot…slowly and easily. Believe that your breath is providing healing and bringing attention to whatever is happening. Stay with it for a few minutes and move to another spot that speaks to you. No matter what your head is doing with the “chatter,” no worries; allow it to move out with your breath. You may find you need to bring your breath to your thoughts to calm them. If so, allow your thoughts to move like a movie reel through your mind and out of your body. Be sure to honor whatever is happening, continue to use your breathing as a conduit for relaxation and healing.

Continuation of Julianna’s personal journey into her intuitive self I had finally come to listen, appreciate and honor my intuitive voice. I was learning what it meant to become one with my spirit. I was no longer filled with anxiety and fear, but more with curiosity and excitement to see where my intuition would lead me next on my journey of self discovery. I enrolled myself in an energy class that was called Holographic Repatterning at the time. It used lots of muscle checking, many books for referencing while with clients, and a myriad of tools to help enhance release and healing for individuals. I learned a great deal through the many classes I took, but I realized something was missing. As I was working with clients, I kept being given the answers to their issues before using the books and tools that were provided through this particular practice. I was getting a profound nudge from my intuition that kept reminding me that there was more for me. I was not quite sure at the time what this meant and continued to learn more about energy healing. One day while in one of my classes, we were learning about tuning forks and how powerful they can be for releasing and breaking up energy within the human body. They truly are remarkable and I use many tuning forks in my work with clients today. We were all instructed to choose a fork and told how to hold it and how to strike it to get it into its humming state. For those that are not familiar with tuning forks, they are an instrument that vibrates at a particular frequency with a heavenly sound. I chose my fork and struck my hand to get it to sing, and I immediately felt like I was going to faint. I almost fell to the ground and felt a little embarrassed because the teacher noticed my reaction and came over to me. She calmed me down and let me know that this was not uncommon for those individuals that are very sensitive to energy and vibration. I was a little overwhelmed at the time, but continued to learn about how to protect my energy field from outside vibrations, such as other people’s energies. I teach this to many of my sensitive clients and it proves successful every time. To compliment all my studies and reading, etc., I began to play with my intuitive abilities and used my children as my source. I have always raised my kids to believe in their intuitive sense and to always listen to their inner wisdom, so this was not unusual work for them. I knew I needed more practice to hone my newly developing skill-set. So, my daughter asked me to practice with her yearbook and use some of the pictures of students to see if I could get a “read” on anyone. Here we embarked on a summer of psychic fun. They all three became involved in helping mom get more in “tune.” I found I was very successful with reading energy from a picture; so we moved into reading the energy of the written word sealed inside an envelope, as well as reading others energy from a distance. It was fun and amazing all at the same time. I got more accurate the more I practiced. What happened next was quite remarkable. I set an intention out loud about how I wanted to create a specific business for myself and my mind was blown. Next issue I will continue my journey with you.
