Benvenuti
In its “One day adventures” brochure, Lugano Region has put together a package of enjoyable, interesting and unusual programs taking in our area’s most popular attractions. The aim is to guide tourists and travellers towards those absolutely unmissable experiences that anybody spending time in our area should discover and enjoy. These daily adventures have been designed and developed by favouring the use of public transport.
Nell’opuscolo “One day adventures”, Lugano Region ha confezionato dei programmi divertenti, interessanti e curiosi, che toccano i punti d’attrazione più gettonati della zona, con l’idea di indirizzare i viaggiatori alla volta di esperienze indimenticabili, che dovrebbero essere vissute da chiunque trascorra del tempo alle nostre latitudini. Queste avventure giornaliere sono state pensate e sviluppate favorendo l’utilizzo dei mezzi pubblici.

In der Broschüre «One day adventures» hat Lugano Region verschiedene unterhaltsame, interessante und bemerkenswerte Programme mit den beliebtesten Attraktionen der Region zusammengestellt, um den Besuchern unvergessliche Erlebnisse zu bescheren, die sich niemand entgehen lassen sollte, der unsere Region besucht. Diese täglichen Abenteuer wurden entworfen und entwickelt, um die Benutzung öffentlicher Verkehrsmittel zu fördern.

Start your day with a visit to MASI in the Palazzo Reali, a Renaissance building that presents works from the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art. Then, along the lakeside promenade, continue your journey into the world of art with a visit to the MASI headquarters at LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura. The museum offers an intense program of 20th and 21st century art exhibitions. Next to the LAC, visit the Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati Collection. Conclude the day with an aperitif in Piazza Luini.

Comfortably seated in a funicular railway carriage, you’ll quickly reach the summit of Monte San Salvatore, nicknamed “the top of Lugano” or “Pan di Zucchero”, maybe inspired by Rio’s Sugarloaf and its superb view. Continue to Carona, a picturesque village embellished with the beautiful San Grato park. After this first stage of the excursion you have two options. The shorter one takes you to Madonna d’Ongero Sanctuary whilst the more challenging route leads to Alpe Vicania and Tenuta Castello di Morcote. Regardless of which option you choose, you’ll end up in Morcote, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful villages.
Comodamente seduti a bordo della funicolare, si giunge in vetta al Monte San Salvatore, soprannominato “top of Lugano” o “pan di zucchero”, forse in virtù della deliziosa vista che offre. Si procede per Carona, pittoresca località ornata dal Parco San Grato. In seguito, l’escursione si apre a due varianti, l’una, più breve, che porta al Santuario della Madonna d’Ongero, l’altra, più impegnativa, che conduce all’Alpe Vicania e alla Tenuta Castello di Morcote. Entrambe le scelte sfociano a Morcote, uno dei villaggi più belli della Svizzera.

Anschliessend geht es weiter nach Carona, einem malerischen Ort mit dem berühmten Parco San Grato. Für den weiteren Verlauf bieten sich Ihnen zwei Möglichkeiten: eine kürzere Strecke zur Wallfahrtskirche Madonna d’Ongero und eine andere, anspruchsvollere Strecke zur Alpe Vicania und dem Tenuta Castello di Morcote. Beide Routen enden in Morcote, einer der schönsten Ortschaften der Schweiz.

Start your day by visiting the amazing goldmine in Sessa, the only place in Switzerland where you can discover what it was once like to mine gold. This memorable experience is a compendium of emotions and stories. Afterwards, make your way to the traditional village of Novaggio where you can embark on the “Trail of Marvels” a trail which allows you to discover mills, hydraulic forges, castles and mines. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Hydraulic Forge in Malcantone, the only one still operating in Switzerland.

Thanks to its stunning views, The Monte Lema – Monte Tamaro hike is one of the most popular in Canton Ticino; on one side you’ll be gazing towards the Locarno region, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa and on the other over the alluring Gulf of Lugano. Although this hike is generally quite challenging, at least you start off comfortably seated in a cable car which takes you to the top of Monte Lema. Once you reach Monte Tamaro, the descent towards Rivera in a cable car is just as relaxing; from there you can take the train back to Lugano.
La Monte Lema – Monte Tamaro è una delle traversate in cresta più battute e apprezzate del Canton Ticino, grazie al magnifico panorama che da una parte guarda al Locarnese, al Cervino e al Monte Rosa, e dall’altra al suggestivo golfo di Lugano. Die Wanderung vom Monte Lema zum Monte Tamaro ist der bekannteste und beliebteste Gebirgsübergang im Kanton Tessin und bietet zur einen Seite ein grossartiges Panorama mit Blick auf die Region Locarno, das Matterhorn und den Monte Rosa und zur anderen auf den malerischen Golf von Lugano. Dieser Ausflug ist insgesamt etwas anspruchsvoll, er beginnt jedoch ganz entspannt an Bord der Luftseilbahn, die zum Gipfel des Monte Lema fährt. After a relaxing stroll to admire the city’s fine buildings, Via Nassa’s boutiques and the flower beds in Parco Ciani, take the funicular up to Monte Bré. Since 1890, the indefatigable rack and pinion train has set off from Capolago and has climbed the slopes of Monte Generoso, whisking passages up to a height of 1704 m. Once they alight, passengers are welcomed by the “Stone Flower” designed by Switzerland’s starchitect, Mario Botta. The petals of this architectural marvel which blossomed in 2017 on the summit’s rocky spur include two restaurants and a conference room providing a window onto a sublime 360° panorama. Monte Generoso offers visitors plenty of opportunities for relaxing strolls, more demanding hikes or culinary experiences.

Take public transport to make your way to Monte Carasso from where the cable car departs for “Curzútt”. When you get there, treat yourself to breakfast in the sun on the restaurant terrace. After that, take a stroll around the historical centre of Curzútt, which has been magnificently restored with the little St. Bernard’s Church with its Romanesque origins and rich frescos. You can then walk for around 45 minutes to the Carasc Bridge: enjoy the thrill of crossing one of Switzerland’s longest Tibetan bridges stretching 270 m at a height of 130 m above the ground. To return, you can choose to continue on foot or take the shuttle bus.
