Downtown Brampton is a hub of holiday activity over the winter months. Strings of lights illuminate the trees lining Main Street, while storefront windows are decorated with seasonal flair. The festivities begin in November with the annual tree lighting ceremony, which also welcomes the Santa Claus Parade. Downtown dining destinations introduce festive menus, while retailers are open and ready to help with your last minute shopping needs. And of course, no visit to Downtown Brampton during the winter season is complete without a lap or two around the skating rink at Gage Park! With something for everyone in the whole family to enjoy, be sure to make Downtown Brampton your number one destination this holiday season.

However, when the novelty of sleeping in and spending all day watching TV or playing video games wears off, come out and discover some of the many activities Downtown Brampton has to offer. No winter in Brampton is complete without a visit to Gage Park. Skate in this lighted winter wonderland to the tunes of a live DJ on Friday and Saturday evenings, then warm up with hot cocoa by the fire pit. Downtown Brampton’s skating trail is free and the perfect way to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. Get whisked away into a winter fairytale and take a horse and carriage tour around Downtown Brampton. The cost is $20 per group of four to five people. Experience the magic of live performance this season at the Rose Theatre. In November, catch Brampton Music Theatre’s playful production of Hairspray – A Broadway Musical, be inspired by the daring poetry of internationally recognized author and spoken word artist Shane Koyczan, and immerse in the captivating culture of India with A Passage to Bollywood, performed by Navdara India Dance Theatre. Among the exhibits to check out at The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) this holiday season are Blue God and the Serpents by Brampton-based artist Sharada K. Eswar, Through Gordon Rayner’s Eyes: Portraits of Famous Artists, Meeting Her Majesty: Phil Richard’s Official Portrait, and 150 Muslim Contributions To Canada: A Mixed-Media Exhibit. November programming at PAMA also includes the Picture Perfect Portraits Tour with the curators or the New Fall Crafts Workshop Series, where you can learn how to make holiday cards. December includes winter break activities such as a Festivus Celebration and Queer Exposure, presented by LAMP Community Health Centre.
