Operated by the city of Canal Fulton, the Canal Fulton Canalway Center is a staffed visitor and information center that promotes the cultural, historic and recreational assets of Canal Fulton and the Ohio & Erie Canalway. Located in St. Helena Heritage Park along the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail. The center’s staff provides visitors with information about area activities, businesses and events. In partnership with the Canal Fulton Heritage Society, the Canalway Center offers a DVD video and interpretation panels that present the history of the canal and the Canal Fulton area. HISTORICAL ATTRACTIONS St. Helena III Canal Boat Rides Operated by the City of Canal Fulton the St. Helena III Canal Boat rides offers the public the chance to ride a replica cargo canal boat pulled by two work horses, one mile south, and back on the original Ohio & Erie Canal. The boat travels past the renovated McLaughlin Dry Dock and Lock 4. During the one hour ride, the crew steer with a rudder and poles, while a historian on board provides facts and stories of life, during Ohio’s canal era.

HISTORICAL ATTRACTIONS Oberlin House Built during the height of the canal-era in 1847, is a “salt-box” style structure that serves as a living museum, and is decorated and furnished with antiques suitable to the period. The Oberlin House is located a couple blocks North of the Canalway Center. Contact the Canalway Center for hours of operation.

Old Canal Days Museum Once known as the “smallest museum in America”. The museum houses a colorful display of Canal Fulton’s history and an excellent collection of tools used to build and repair canal boats. On display are some interesting and unique pieces of Canal Fulton memorabilia and a number of photos depicting a variety of aspects of early Canal Fulton life. There is also an assortment of maps, photos and displays regarding life along the Ohio & Erie Canal. The museum is located at the entrance of the St. Helena Heritage Park. Open during the boat season, Sat. & Sun. 12-4 pm.

For the Glory of the Game of Base Ball! Vintage Base Ball is a gentlemen's game that is based off of the rules of the game established in the 1850’s, 1860’s, or 1880’s. Players dress in period clothing and use equipment that is representing of the time. Vintage base ball itself has been around since the 1980s and there are currently teams located all over the United States. The Canal Fulton Mules formed in 1994 with the support of the Canal Fulton Heritage Society. The Mules uniform top consists of various shades of blue or green plaid with khaki bottoms. Their cap is a Boston style cap with a white star on the top. To complete their uniform, a tie fashioned into a bow and a sash with their mascot, a mule, on it to represent the mules that pulled the canal boats. THE ARTS OPEN-MIC NIGHTS at PUBLIC SQUARE Enjoy free entertainment every Saturday evening through the summer months. Open-Mic Nights at Public Square, located at the corner of N. Canal St. & Market St. starts in early May and continues until late summer. A variety of performers come from as far as Cleveland to share their love of music. A primary advocate of the concept of environmental theatre, open auditions, and performing new plays, the Canal Fulton Players have brought a different approach to theatre in the Western Stark County area.

CONGRESSMAN RALPH REGULA TOWPATH TRAIL PARK This park encompasses the 25-mile Stark County portion of the 110-mile Ohio and Erie National Heritage Canalway which extends north to Cleveland and south to New Philadelphia. The trail and bordering parklands follow the historic route of the Ohio & Erie Canal through deciduous forests and rural and urban landscapes. The park and towpath trail extend through what once were three thriving canal villages, now the cities of Canal Fulton and Massillon and the Village of Navarre. The shady, flat terrain parallels the Tuscarawas River. In many areas the old canal is visible. In the Canal Fulton area, the canal has been preserved, allowing for rides on a replica canal boat, the St. Helena III, during spring and summer. South of Canal Fulton is Lock 4 trailhead with areas for picnicking and fishing. There are 14 parking lots allowing access to the 25-mile park, which parallels the Ohio & Erie Canalway Scenic Byway for automobiles.
